It’s been more than 24 hours and a teenage boy from Malvern, Victoria is still missing without a trace.
It started 18 hours ago.
A Melbourne mother took to Twitter, begging for assistance in finding her son.
“My son Owen (14) is missing in MELB. He’s 6ft, lean, dark blonde & blue eyes. Please RT. Call police on 03 88235600,” Bronwyn Clune wrote on Twitter.
Within the next hour, police had been notified and were searching Owen.
“Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Malvern East boy Owen Clune,” Victorian Police wrote in a media alert.
“The 14-year-old was last seen around 8am this morning at his home on Thornbury Crescent.
“He told his father he was going to his school in Malvern however it appears he never arrived. ”
The police report stated Owen’s step mother arrived home and found his school bag and uniform left behind. It is believed he has no mobile or cash.
For the next 15 hours after Owen’s disappearance, his mother Bronwyn continued her online crusade, pleading for the public to help find her son.
“I need help,” she tweeted. “My son Owen is missing in Melbourne.”
“If there’s somewhere near you that you imagine a teenage boy might use for shelter. Please check.”
Ms Clune seems particularly distressed that her son has not contacted his friends — a move which seems at odds with the typically social lives of teens.
Anyone who sees Owen is urged to call Triple Zero (000) immediately, or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Mamamia has contaced Bronwyn for comment but she was unable to at this time.
