Open Post: What's going on in your world?

Hola! Welcome to Open Post – the little corner of Mamamia where we throw things over to you guys so you can chat about whatever takes your fancy.

As a lover of both food and alcoholic beverages, my topic of conversation this week would have to be the incredible lunch I had yesterday at The Bucket List Bondi.

I know what you’re thinking: But Rosie! If you were off having a boozy lunch yesterday, who was making sure there were enough random stories about weird internet stuff/television/crazy sex toys on the website?

Well you guys, I selflessly left that in the capable hands of my collegues, as I somehow managed to score six days off in a row over the Easter long weekend (don’t tell Mia, I think it may have been a mistake).

Lucky for me, I was invited by The Bucket List to enjoy a glorious lunch (and wine, and cocktails, and some more wine…) on them, thanks to an awesome initiative they’ve put in place over the Easter/Anzac break. Teaming up with Hyundai Australia, The Bucket List is supporting the Plan B and Safe Summer Campaigns, which are trying to curb drink driving over the break.

And for someone like myself who likes a bevvie or five, it’s a great idea: basically, The Bucket List has organised a shuttle service to take people to key places around the area so there’s no need for them to drive home after a boozy sesh by the beach.

And any campaign that tries to combat drink driving is a winner in my book, so I took my little sis Tayla along to enjoy the sunshine, have some cocktails and spread the word.

We were picked up in a very flashy Hyundai by a lovely driver named Kingsley (who kept trying to open the doors for us – a chivalrous move neither of us recognised). Once at The Bucket List, we spent the next few hours arguing over who would marry our really, really ridiculously good-looking waiter Ivan, eating amazing food and drinking wine (me) and fancy cocktails (Tayla).

Then Kingsley came and picked us up, where we both proceeded to lapse into a satisfied food coma in the back of the car. As far as Tuesday lunches go, it was a good one.

It was also lovely to spend some quality time with my little sister – because we live together we tend to categorise ‘spending time together’ as ‘watching TV in our underpants’. So it was nice to get dressed up and go somewhere fun.

Here are the photos I forced Tayla to take while I sat and finished all the wine:

So, that was my highlight for the week. What’s been going on with you guys?

Hello MMers
I know its been forever. I've been making lots of little changes in my life because I wasn't living my best life and I forgot to take care of me. This year I'm taking much of the year off to get well, because I've been existing for the past four years, in the guise of 'coping' and I need to sort a few things in my life.
I've been spending much more time with the cherubs, plugging in more to their day to day, actually hearing them when they say they've needed me, and a few times not going out to jam because the youngest has asked me to stay home.
I've neglected my home too much too, I loved this house when we built it, but I think it just became one of the 'responsibilities' that was crippling me and I haven't been taking good care of it, So I'm falling back in love with my house, wanting to paint and sort things out. I have so many pieces of furniture I've bought as my 'B plan' to refinish and sell, so I'm finally getting around to doing that. Sorting out years of the cherubs outgrown clothes and flogging them on ebay. You know I read somewhere that most households have at least $1200 worth of unneeded stuff they can sell on ebay. That's a little holiday for the cherubs and I if I think about it.
I've also changed some of my social group too. I came to realise that there are a certain element in the music groups I frequent who are competitive and just effing nasty, and I've stopped allowing them to affect me, let alone acknowledging them and their toxicity.
Along that line, I've really pulled away from this site, I'm all for healthy debate but holy crap there are some angry self righteous opinions floating around, and I just can't be arsed.
So - I'm being the best mum I can be, I'm still singing at least twice a week and I'm being my best friend for a bit. I've changed my meds too which was a long overdue change, I haven't dated in forever which has been a big change for me - I used to date like a machine when I was single previously - and I'm actually just enjoying my own company!
Thanks to the couple of people who have enquired how I am or where I am. I'm really touched that people have thought of me. I will pop in and read the stuff I know will be funny, witty or clever, but if its controversial or just windbaggy, I'm sorry but I'm out.
Now - let me know how you've been!! Much love x

Wondering how Zepgirl is this week and finding it unusual that she hasn't graced us with her writing presence..!

I'm here, was just taking a break from social media and computers in general. Thanks for thinking of me!

And here I was thinking that perhaps you took 3 days off work this week because of the two long weekends in a row.

I did! I'm at home right now! Just been reading the 'Divergent'' trilogy and I feel mentally unstable as to how it bloody well ended. Seriously, I can barely bring myself to think about it, I feel like I've lost years off my life!

So the review I've been given is that it's similar to the Hunger Games series - but better.
