Cook pasta and sauce in just one pot. No big pan of boiling water required. Amazing.

We make pasta and sauce many times a week, but never like this. Life-changing stuff.

This pasta recipe, from the heart of Puglia, Italy, only requires one pan. No second pot for your pasta. Everything. All. Together.

Most of us boil our pasta strands in a pot of boiling water with a pinch of salt.

This recipe was adapted from Martha Stewart’s Living, and puts all of the sauce and pasta ingredients in one pan with water. Just like this.

Yes, that is one pan of pasta ingredients.

It looks pretty amazing, doesn't it? But is it possible...

Apparently, yes. It's also faster too: it boils in just under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 340 grams linguine
  • 300 grams cherry or grape tomatoes, halved or quartered if large
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
  • 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1/2- 3/4 teaspoon red-pepper flakes
  • 2 sprigs basil, plus torn leaves for garnish
  • 2-3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
  • kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 4 1/2 cups water
  • Lots of freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

2. Bring to a boil over high heat.
3. Boil mixture, stirring and turning pasta frequently with tongs, until pasta is al dente and water has nearly evaporated, about 9 minutes.
4. Season to taste with salt and pepper and garnish with basil.

Pasta, al dente!
