Olivia Newton-John has responded to reports that she is “week, not months” away from her death.
Sharing a video message on both Facebook and Twitter this morning, the 70-year-old assured fans that the rumours about her health were “greatly exaggerated”.
“Happy New Year everyone – this is Olivia Newton-John and I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a famous quote,” the actress and performer said.
“I’m doing great and I want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 possible,” she continued.
“Thank you all for your wonderful love and support for me and my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.”
Newton-John shared the video message just 24 hours after rumours about her battle with breast cancer went viral online.
The singer-songwriter was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, just days after her father’s death. She received eight months of treatment and remained in remission for years.
She was diagnosed for a second time in 2013, when a new breast cancer spread to her shoulder.
In her biography Don’t Stop Believin’, which was released last year, the Australian actress opened up about her second bout of cancer that took place six years ago.
“Cancer is something I will need to stay on top of for the rest of my long life,” she wrote.
“I truly believe this will be my final round with cancer. I truly believe it will be like last time and I will go on with my life.”
In late 2018, Olivia came into the Mamamia offices to discuss everything from why she never had a relationship with John Travolta after Grease to how she was dealing with being diagnosed with cancer for a third time.

Perhaps Mamamia might like to think next time they rush to print a tabloid story about someone? You guys jumped on the bandwagon yesterday when these rumours first came out.
Who knew anonymous sources via Radar Online could be so unreliable?
At least they don't quietly remove stories when they're refuted, like MM did. Radar Online et al at least don't pretend to be anything other than trashy tabloids.
