'I'm a beauty editor and I tried NIVEA’s first ever serum. Here are my honest thoughts.’

As a beauty editor who puts a lot of different products on her face, there are few things that get me more excited than trialling a new serum. 

Really! Because these are the guys that pack a real punch in your skincare routine – they’re usually full of hardworking ingredients that can be used to target specific skin concerns. 

The only downside? They can often be quite pricey.

That’s why I was buzzing with excitement when NIVEA’s first EVER serum slid its (cute) way across my desk.

It’s the NIVEA Cellular Filler Expert Replumping Hyaluronic Serum, and it’s designed to bounce back your skin to its best, plump and hydrated self. 

Yes, NIVEA has a serum! At $45, it’s a wallet-friendly option compared to some of the spendier formulas out there, so I was keen to see how it shaped up.

Before I get into it, though – it’s probably best to tell you a wee bit about my skin. Whaddya say?

In case you haven’t heard me talk about it in approximately every article ever, it’s perpetually dry. Sensitive. Needy. 

As we slink on closer to the chillier season, she loves to throw a flaky patch or two – sometimes with a side of redness. (Cute!).

For this reason, I tend to veer towards moisture-boosting products that will not only hydrate my skin but brighten it and make it look more alive/like I actually drink water.

SO! Now we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about the serum, shall we?

What is NIVEA Cellular Filler Expert Replumping Hyaluronic Serum?

Excellent question.

NIVEA Cellular Filler Expert Replumping Hyaluronic Serum is a facial serum that is formulated with quality ingredients such as pure micro hyaluronic acids and glycerin.

Because I have sensitive skin, I am always looking for products that are dermatologically approved. This serum is suitable for all skin types and is the kind of multi-tasking product you can use both morning and night.

It promises to deeply moisturise and plump your skin, leave it feeling supple and smooth with lasting hydration and restored bounce. Sounds pretty good, right?

So, does this trending product actually work? I tried it to find out.

How did you go with it? 

Before I even put this serum on my face, I knew we’d be friends. It’s everything a gal with dry skin needs, in a bottle. 

All up, I used it for a week, applying about four to five drops to my fingers and massaging it into my face and décolletage morning and night after cleansing.

And the results were instant. 

The first thing I noticed was that the formula itself is lovely and lightweight. It’s delightfully non-sticky (I hate that gross, tacky feeling you get with some serums) and fast-absorbing.

It also felt gentle on my skin – I did not experience a lick of irritation, stinging or any of that nonsense. 

Side note: It also sits under other skincare products and makeup products beautifully. No pilling or tantrums.

On the all-important results front, I noticed my skin not only looked and felt immediately plumper, bouncier and healthier-looking, but it also felt hydrated and nourished after each use. 

The most impressive part for me was that these results actually lasted. Because often when it comes to serums that tout different moisture-boosting benefits, the results may be instantaneous but they don’t last for more than a few hours. 

However, with this newbie from NIVEA, I found my skin felt comfortable, moisturised and happy throughout the whole day. 

Now, for a dry-skinned girl who’s used to looking in the mirror at 1pm and seeing flaky patches of skin hanging around underneath her makeup – a smooth, hydrated face is the dream, really.

After using it in the morning, my partner came home from work and asked me if I had "a facial or something" that day – and honestly, that’s all the feedback I need. Because that man notices NOTHING.

The verdict.

Overall, I found this to be an excellent multi-tasking serum that’s perfect for everyday use. 

As mentioned earlier, it’s suitable for all skin types (yes, even sensitive!) and is just the ticket if you’re looking to bring your skin back to life and add a boost of hydration for plumper, bouncy skin. See: Everyone, ever.

It’s also a great option for beginners who haven’t dipped their toes in the serum game yet. And at $45, with the combo of quality ingredients and visible results, you really can’t go wrong.

For me, this will be one of those (very few) skincare products I’ll be using down to the very last drop.
