FREE: What's happening in your city this weekend.

It’s the weekend!

Do you ever find yourself chatting to a mate on Monday morning and they describe the AMAZINGLY, AWESOME and FREE thing that they did over the weekend?

And you’re all “Ah, where was my invite? Why didn’t I know that was on? How did I miss what could potentially be the greatest weekend event of my life?”

Well. We’re here to save the day because we’re not going to let you and your friends and family give into the dreaded FOMO (fear of missing out) disease.

So here are a few things that are happening around the country this weekend for you to consider. But of course: It takes a village to build a successful weekend, so we’re asking you to comment about events going on near you, that you think Mamamia readers would love. Sharing is caring.

Sydney:

The Cronulla Spring Festival

This weekend Sydneysiders should head on down to the Cronulla Spring Festival, which runs from 10am to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday. There’ll be so much stuff to do up and down Cronulla Street, and absolutely NONE of it will have ANYTHING to do with the cast of The Shire. Amazing.

There will, however, be kids’ shows from the cast of Lazytown and Ice Age 4, as well as a baby animal farm, over 100 market stalls and the Sutherland Shire Marine and Boat Show. Visit the Sutherland Shire Council website for more information.

Melbourne:

Still on Spring, it’s Melbourne Spring Fashion Week. I know what you’re thinking: ‘But I’m neither Anna Wintour nor a Kardashian, I could never attend a fashion event!’ And I’ll tell you what I’m thinking: ‘Don’t be silly, Cinderella, you can go to the ball!

The MSFW has free catwalk parades all weekend across the CBD, as well as ticketed events such as the Sky High Pamper Picnic at Southbank on Saturday and Worn Wild, the Alternative Designers’ Market, at Carlton on Sunday.’ Yes, that’s what I’m thinking. Go forth and be fabulous, Melbourne fashionistas.

Perth:

It’s going to reach 30 degrees in Perth this weekend, and there is no better place to enjoy the sunshine than on the Northbridge Piazza lawn being entertained by world-class musical performances. Just imagine:  sitting back in one of the warm, comfy beanbags,  laughing at the rest of the country freezing their bums off (Melbourne might have a fashion parade, but it’s going to be 18 degrees and raining down there on Saturday.) The Sunday Piazza Live concerts were a huge hit last year, and the new season kicking off this weekend is sure to bring smooth sounds to the Swan River once again. Performances run from 1-3pm on Sundays.
Kath & Kimderella

Nationwide:

The foxy ladies from Fountain Lakes are making their cinematic debut in Kath and Kimderella, which is playing in theatres across the country this weekend.

The film sees the mother and daughter duo joined by all of your different and unusual (but definitely noice) favourites on the obligatory 2012 European holiday.

Oh well, at least they’ve made a movie about it, rather than just clogging up your Facebook news feed with their holiday snaps.

Over to you. How are you planning to spend your weekend?
