Mother’s Day is my favourite day of the year. It’s not because of the gifts I receive, it’s not because of the food I get to eat, it’s because being a daughter and being a mother are two of the most important parts of my life.
I love my mum more than anything. Our relationship wasn’t perfect when I was little and it’s still not perfect now but I call my mum my best friend. It’s the kind of relationship I aspire to have with my children when they have grown up.
Despite my affection for my mother, I still have trouble finding the time to get to a big shopping centre to buy her a Mother’s Day gift. I always go to my nearest local store, luckily there’s usually an IGA close by, and thank goodness there are some brilliant last minute gift ideas you can put together easily from there. When in doubt, ‘just add chocolate’.
Just as an FYI, you should know that this post is sponsored by IGA. But all opinions expressed by the author are 100% authentic and written in her own words.
Chocolates
Chocolates are a perfect Mother’s Day gift, but don’t do it by halves. Select your mum’s favourite chocolates and wrap them beautifully. Choose some cellophane in your mum’s favourite colour and buy ribbon of the same colour.
It will look stunning. My mum loves any chocolate but because I know she and I will share whatever I buy her over coffee that week I always choose something we will both love. We are huge Ferrero Rocher fans and also love Guylian. Red is her favourite colour. Actually, buy both boxes of chocolates and wrap it all up in glorious cellophane. Talk about impressive.
Flower Bouquets
The only Mother’s Day gift better than delicious chocolates is a gorgeous flower bouquet. Flowers are so beautiful and come in so many varieties, especially around Mother’s Day. My mum loves carnations. She used to work on a carnation farm and the smell brings back all her happy memories of early motherhood. As soon as my sisters and I smell them we remember playing on the farm while mum worked. It truly was an adventure playground. Your mum may prefer roses or something brightly coloured like gerberas. Whatever her choice, you can find a great selection around Mother’s Day. Nothing says Mother’s Day better than a beautiful flower bouquet.

My Mum would love all these gifts you suggested (and so would I -hint hint kiddies!) I am lucky as my Mum is pretty easy to buy for. This year she actually asked for a Dictionary! I will add Chocolates, chrysanthemums, plus some nice soap which she loves. Happy Mums Day!
My mum is so high maintenance when it comes to gifts, she's one of those 'oh thankyou' (returns gift next day) types. So this year my siblings and I flat out asked her what she wanted and of all things it was thing blender nutribullet thing. EXPENSIVE! but at least she'll be happy for once.
