Hopefully now the reason for these Bali deaths will be revealed

The bodies of Noelene Bischoff and her daughter Yvana Bischoff will arrive home today and be placed into the care of the Queensland Coroner where an autopsy will take place. The family of the mother and daughter who died in Bali after eating suspected toxic fish, had refused to allow Balinese authorities to conduct an autopsy.

Noelene Gay Bischoff, 54, and her daughter Yvana Jeana Yuri Bischoff, 14, arrived in Bali from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The pair were very close and were described as ‘best friends’. This was just the latest adventure they planned to share together.

Hundreds of people attended a memorial service for the pair on the Sunshine Coast where they were remembered for the close bond they shared, their sense of adventure and their love of family.

Noelene Bishoff checked into Padang Bai Beach Resort in Karangasem in east Bali and decided to have dinner at The Buddha Bar and Restaurant, attached to the resort.

They were three days into a 15 day dream holiday when they died. It is understood the pair ate fish. The restaurant owner is denying the food is at fault, blaming a food allergy for the deaths. He says other patrons ate the same meal and didn’t become sick.

Meal receipt, supplied

Just hours after returning to their hotel after the meal, both mother and daughter were violently ill. Young Yvana begged security staff for help however her mum died just 15 minutes later en route to hospital and Yvana later died at BIMC Hospital, an international clinic in the Balinese capital of Denpasar

"Yesterday was a hell of a shock but over the day and last night we managed to come to grips with it," Ms Bischoff's brother-in-law Kevin Bowe told Sky news. "It'd be nice to get decent answers."

"On the news this morning they said something different, but we've been told it is fish they've eaten," he said.

"I was told on the phone by one of the doctors at the hospital it was suspected toxic fish," Desley Bowe, Noelene's sister told news.com.au.

It's been reported that samples of vomit from the pair have been collected for analysis and well as several medicines found in their hotel room. Toxic fish is suspected to be the cause of death. By the time the pair sort medical help they were both having difficulty breathing and tightness in the chest.

Noelene's brother Malcolm Bischoff told news.com.au they didn't have any known allergies. "There is a bit of speculation about food allergies or seafood allergies which I don't believe is true because I've had seafood with my sister on a number of occasions."

"The thing we are sort of questioning is that from when they actually appeared to get sick they were both dead within five hours."

The Australian consulate-general in Bali is liaising with local authorities.

Noelene worked as a nurse at the Caloundra Hospital and cared for her elderly mother while raising her daughter as a single parent.

"She'd done a great job, looking after the whole family and made a good living," her brother-in-law, Kevin Bowe said. "She relied on no-one else. She did it all on her own, she was quite independent."

He added that her daughter Yvana had just finished Year Seven.

"She was effervescent, plenty of life. Educated and had everything planned," he said.

"She knew what she wanted to do, had her life planned and she would've done it too."
