Ahhhh motherhood.
So much joy. So much love. So many insults from your own offspring.
Johann Stein (who we have since learned is an actor slash writer slash performer slash mum) has created a short video that just about sums up a day in the life of most mums. It is delightfully entitled:
‘Momhead: Ways in which my 4-year-old has insulted me (true story).’
“Mummy, when you wave your arms really fast, sometimes it sounds like your clapping.”
“Your tummy looks like a bagel.”
“Claire and I were playing in your underpants and they fit both of us at the same time.”
Kids. Brutally honest. Honestly brutal.

I work in a childcare centre. Oh the things we've had said to us - even by our "brightest" kids. One 4yo asked my co-worker why she had big arms and before she could answer another one said "it's cause she has fat on them". Completely innocent, had no idea of what "hurt" she could do - to her it was just a fact that she was stating.
From one little girl (her mother is one of these absolutely wraith-thin girls, natural washboard abs etcetera) ''why do you still have a fat tummy after you had your baby? My mummy's tummy isn't fat anymore?''. Me ''yes darling but we all have our good points and bad points... the mother was standing there sniggering and the overwhelming urge to continue with ''... for example, your mummy has very thick ankles, even though she's so slim, and look! My legs go right in at the ankle...'' but I resisted. How, I will never know.
