Star of Modern Family, Sarah Hyland, has revealed a huge secret: The 21 year old actress has been struggling with a condition called kidney dysplasia and recently received a kidney transplant, thanks to her father Edward.
In interviews with Seventeen magazine and Good Morning America, Hyland said she had the operation in mid April.
The actress told Good Morning America of the pain she dealt with while working on-set, “If you’re sick you still go to work and in between takes you sit down or you lay your head down or something.”
The show, Modern Family, is on hiatus at the moment, giving Hyland some time to recover.
The experience, she told Seventeen, has left her thankful for family, “I have a second chance at life … not a lot of people get that.”

You need to have the conversation with you family and tell them what your wishes are. I've told my husband, parents and sibling what my wishes are. While having a chat at my house one day it went like this: "by the way, if anything happens to me, just so you know, this is what I want".
I think you need to have the conversation with your family to remove any guilt they might feel in making the decision on your behalf. Instead they can feel that they were able to fulfil your wishes as a final gesture to you.
