The 2017 television season has officially begun, with crowd favourite My Kitchen Rules returning to screens just last week.
But a few episodes in, fans are already crying out in frustration over the show’s annual format. You know the one; there’s the single girls, the single guys, the mums, the loved-up couple, the “just friends” couple and the villains.
Dun dun dunnnnn.
LISTEN: My Kitchen Rules star Amy explains what was behind her behaviour on The Binge. (Post continues…)
And it’s the last pair the folks at home are well and truly over.
“These villain characters ruin the show.. That team literally brings nothing- it isn’t entertaining, it isn’t funny and it certainly isn’t enjoyable to watch. Not sure if we will tune in tonight because honestly we can’t stand them,” one viewer wrote on the show’s Facebook page during the week, receiving hundreds of likes.
“Same formula, same annoying couple that will undoubtedly be the last to cook so everyone keeps watching to see them hopefully fail…it’s the same thing every season,” another commented.
Traditionally, the villains are friends or related in some way, and take issue with everyone and everything. They talk a big game for the entirety of the dinner parties, promise to deliver excellence and promptly fail as soon as their home-restaurant evening begins.

I'd bet he has Aspergers. I am more annoyed by rubbish articles like this than Tyson. No understanding
Yes ,I fully agree there is most likely to be an Autism Spectrum Disorder, most likely Aspergers. I have a close friend with this disorder and there is such a similar trait that affects people suffering from Aspergers which is an intense knowledge and interest in a particular subject or field. For Tyson it is obviously his field of interest is food and cooking which is why he knows so much about it and could be called an expert. Also the lack of emotion, not understanding social cues or graces and suffering severe frustrations re his anger is all part of the Disorder. I was over the' Angry Man' title just from all the adds for MKR over the past 2 months . In this day of more awarness of Domestic Violence would we want to watch someone take control of total strangers by making them feel threatened or even uncomfortable re the thought of a potentially violent person which is how the promotional advertising were leading our minds to think. Aspergers is such a complex disorder and hopefully if I am correct in my thinking this may cast a positive light on Autism Spectrum Disorder and lead to better understanding and less judgement in the future . Any knowledge learnt in a positve way helps not only the learner but those around them because we can all be good teachers when armed with the right facts, understanding and compassion. I must say to finish this
( sorry ) long blog that Amy seemed as pesky as her brother Tyson up until they cooked together on Tuesday night and I now have so much respect for her as she was all over the problems that Tyson was facing, without blame ,anger or judgement in the high stress situation Amy gently moved Tyson onto other tasks to help his frustrations go off the boil. So well done Amy .
