1. Police appeal for assistance to locate missing Queensland woman.

Police are searching for a 48-year-old woman from Queensland who has been missing since last Wednesday.

Patricia Anne Luckman was last seen leaving her residence in Robina around midday on June 24.

Police say she has not made contact with anyone since her disappearance.

She is described as Caucasian, 170cm tall, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

2. Turkish police use water cannon to dispel marriage equality protester.

Turkish police have used excessive force to dispel marriage equality advocates at Istanbul’s gay pride parade.

Incredible footage shared on Twitter shows a male protested being targeted by a water cannon.

The man can be seen waving rainbow flags before he is hit by the cannon and goes flying backwards.

Vice News reports authorities also used tear gas and rubber bullets to break up the public display. “We thought this was going to be a ‘normal,’ peaceful pride walk, but the police welcomed us with tear gas… They blocked all the little streets and alleys leading to Istikal Street where the walk supposed to take place,” a 26-year-old man told Vice. The governor’s office reportedly cancelled the event because it occurred during the holy Islamic period of Ramadan.

3. Aussie dads make safe-sexting app.

Two fathers from Perth have joined forces to create an app that will protect sexters from having their nude photos leaked. Shane Bell and Derek Hayes were reportedly horrified by recent news of “revenge porn” and attacks on the privacy of young Australians — so they decided to act.

The app, named HotShots, allows people to send images that can’t be saved or viewed more than once. According to News Corp, you can send images which can only be viewed once the recipient answers a question about the sender. After the photo has been viewed, it will be deleted forever. The images cannot be screenshot or saved. The app is now available on Android, with hopes and Apple version will soon be ready.

4. Gen Y is “addicted” to being busy, new study suggests.

Contradictory to popular belief, new research suggest Generation Y is taking on too much and are becoming ‘addicted’ to being busy. A recent study revealed two thirds of young Australians aged between 18 and 29 struggle to juggle their responsibilities and are finding it difficult to live a balanced lifestyle.

  The Future Leaders Index revealed that 49 per cent of those surveyed experienced high stress levels, with young women twice as likely to experience higher levels than their male counterparts. As told to Fairfax Media, Psychologist Andrew Campbell of the University of Sydney suggests there is too much pressure put onto young people to do more. He believes that this type of behaviour could lead to an obsession or addiction as people experience a sense of pleasure as they tick another thing off their list. He also states that there is a sense of failure felt among the Gen-Y community if they are not keeping up with the people around them. “Obsessions and addictions develop because people are getting a reward that makes them feel better about themselves,” Dr.Campbell said. “The longer they’re switched off…the more they feel they’re being left behind. In some ways this translates to losing.” The survey also revealed that the main causes for high stress levels among young people is financial management and attempting to maintain a healthy lifestyle, closely followed by work and study commitments.

5. Security guards perform flashmob during Lionel Richie performance at Glastonbury.

More than 100,000 people have watched music legend Lionel Richie at Glastonbury music festival in the UK. During Richie’s hit Dancing on the Ceiling,  festival security guards surprised fans with a choreographed flashmob. Richie told media he was surprised by the routine.

“That was as good as it gets. Even after all the years of me performing, when a crowd takes over like that …. when I saw my face in every imaginable form. It was the perfect show. Even I’m speechless. For me to be speechless, it’s very hard to do,” he said, reported by News Corp.
