Logie award winner: "Put more beautiful people of colour on TV."

Australia’s brightest new star used her Logies win to highlight a pressing issue on our screens.

Channel Nine’s Miranda Tapsell took home two TV Week Logie Awards last night – one for for Most Popular New Talent and the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer.

When collecting her first award for the night, the Love Child star shared an important message about racial diversity on Australian TV screens.

“Put more beautiful people of colour on TV and connect viewers in ways which transcend race and unite us,” she urged.

“That’s the real team Australia.”

During her second acceptance speech, the 26-year-old also encouraged the audience to “dream big, dream fierce.”

The crowd roared in support, with some taking to Twitter to share the love.

Tapsell was acclaimed for her role in Love Child, but has previously shone in roles in ABC’s Redfern Now and 2012 film, The Sapphires.

She was born in Darwin and raised in Kakadu National Park as a national of the Larrakia people.
