“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.

“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Neither Cyrus, 26, nor Hemsworth, 29, have announced the split on their social media platforms, however, on Saturday, Miley shared a photo of herself on Instagram without her wedding ring that promoted speculation of a split.

The photo was taken in Italy, where Cyrus is currently on holiday with Brody Jenner’s ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter. Carter and Jenner only recently confirmed their own split in a joint statement issues to E! News on August 3.

“Brody Jenner & Kaitlynn Carter have decided to amicably separate. They love and respect one another, and know that this is the best decision for their relationship moving forward,” the statement read.

Less than a week later, The Hills star was seen kissing Cyrus in Lake Como, the Daily Mail reports.

In July, Cyrus spoke about feeling like she didn’t “fit into a stereotypical wife role” in a cover interview for US Elle.

“I think it’s very confusing to people that I’m married. But my relationship is unique. I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it,” she said of her relationship with Hemsworth.

“I mean, do people really think that I’m at home in a f—ing apron cooking dinner? I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women.

“People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still f–ing good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth first met on the set of The Last Song in 2010. They were 16 and 19 respectively. After becoming engaged in 2012, the couple briefly split in 2013, before becoming engaged again in 2015.

Sharing her insight behind the split to radio personality Howard Stern in 2016, Cyrus said this period allowed them both “to grow up”.

“I had to. I don’t like when relationships are two halves trying to make a whole,’ she said.

“You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being.”

Hemsworth reiterated her sentiment in an interview with GQ Australia.

“Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen,” he said.

“We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time – we both needed that.”

More to come.
