This weekend, Miley Cyrus posted photos of herself without her wedding ring and the rumours were a’swirling.

Last week, Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter announced their split.

Back in February, Liam gushed about Miley on TV. Post continues below video.

Precisely no one saw the possible break-up of A-list couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth and the definite break-up of… not A-list couple Brody and Kaitlynn as related, but um, then this happened:

We were all surprised except maybe Brody Jenner who weirdly commented “Hot girl summer” on Kaitlynn’s Instagram along with a fire emoji which is… confusing for us and absolutely did not age well.

Instagram was also full of videos of Miley dancing, lots of bikini shots, and boomerangs with champagne. Little did we know, Miley was relaunching before we even knew a relaunch was needed.

Shortly after her flurry of Instagram posts, Entertainment Tonight shared photos of Miley and Kaitlynn kissing on a boat in Italy and EXCUSE US WHAT.

The world’s population was struck by headaches, which we can only assume was caused by the globe spinning a little bit faster than usual in the hope of speeding up the process of learning WHAT THE HECK was going on.

It worked.

Just a few hours later, Miley’s rep confirmed that the singer had split from her Hemsworth hubby after eight months of marriage.

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the representative said in a statement.

“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”

The statement said the pair would “still remain dedicated parents to all their animals” and thank god, we were really starting to stress about the impact of this on their seven dogs, two mini horses, two regular-sized horses, pig and three cats.

A day later Miley took a break from living her best life on a Italian boat to live her best life among Italian mountains, to represent that there’s always gonna be another mountain and you’re always gonna wanna make it moooove.

Life’s a climb… but the view is great.

Amongst the sea of enviable holiday snaps, with at least one caption telling us IT’S THE CLIIIIMB, Miley subtly – or not – referenced the break-up.

“Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” she wrote. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable.”

Since then, absolutely everyone has weighed in on the split except for Liam who is too busy living the quintessential Byron Bay lifestyle, with surfing and beach walks and many shirtless workouts but hopefully no anti-vaxxing.

We understand US President Donald Trump’s advisers are keeping him across the situation, and United Nations Secretary General António Guterres is considering making a statement.

Liam’s brother Thor Chris Hemsworth looked not-so-celebratory while checking his phone during a family outing on Sunday – a.k.a his birthday – leading to speculation he was texting Liam.

Maybe he was trying to wrap his head around this whole debacle, sure, but maybe he’d just received an angry sledge from Thor’s Kiwi director Taika Waititi following Australia’s rugby win over New Zealand or was just a lil’ bit mad he hadn’t had time to complete his 1000 pull-ups, 12,000 squats and 2 million crunches for the day.

He has an image to maintain, ya know.

Obviously Brody Jenner was not going to let an opportunity to gain more headlines than an entire season of The Hills and a KUWTK cameo combined, so he took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the whole situation.

And it was... a little lot cringe.

"Don't let yesterday take up too much of today," he wrote after approximately four hours of Googling "break-up quotes".

His Hills co-star and the son of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Brandon Lee, then joked "Let's round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out" (because we definitely needed you to make this story more complicated, thanks Brandon!)

Brody responded with a laughing emoji and said "Watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon".

Brody, please, that is inappropriate. But also, are you planning a trip to Byron Bay?

Miley is Miley and therefore responded to the comment with: "Go take a nap in your truck and cool off #HotGirlSummer," igniting a feud that genuinely no one, NO ONE asked for.

Except maybe Spencer Pratt who has been live tweeting the whole thing, rubbing his favourite crystal on his forehead and cackling.

Like all great reality shows, we've been left with a very intense cliffhanger and it's frankly very inconvenient.

Someone get the earth to spin faster again, or something. We simply cannot wait for the next development.
