Michelle Obama reveals there has been a dark side to living in the White House.

Michelle Obama has posed for her final magazine cover as the First Lady of the United States, and we’re more than a little bit emotional about it.

Over the past eight years, Michelle has tackled issues so close to her heart – healthy eating, education and support for military spouses – and has done so with grace, passion and integrity.

But in the new interview in the December issue of Vogue magazine, Michelle Obama has revealed that she is actually looking forward to moving out of the most famous house in the world.

“The nature of living in the White House is isolating,” she told the magazine, adding that knowing her time as First Lady is coming to an end has allowed her to keep “one foot in reality”.

“When you’re not engaged in the day-to-day struggles that everybody feels, you slowly start losing touch. And I think it’s important for the people in the White House to have a finger on the pulse,” she said.

But it’s been her ability to stay grounded, and relatable, that has made Michelle one of the most loved FLOTUS’ in history.

And even outgoing President Barack Obama agrees.
“Michelle never asked to be First Lady. Like a lot of political spouses, the role was thrust upon her. But I always knew she’d be incredible at it, and put her own unique stamp on the job,” Obama told the magazine.

“That’s because who you see is who she is – the brilliant, funny, generous woman who, for whatever reason, agreed to marry me. I think people gravitate to her because they see themselves in her – a dedicated mum, a good friend, and someone who’s not afraid to poke a little fun at herself from time to time.”

We’re not crying, you’re crying. Can’t Barack and Michelle just stay in our lives a little bit longer?
