The water you should be introducing to your beauty regime. Hint: You don’t have to drink it.

We hear it all the time from health bloggers, beauty vloggers and those ubiquitous Victoria’s Secret models; radiant skin involves blended up green things, a handful of almonds and a 20-step beauty routine.

When it comes to fresh, clean skin, the majority of us are after something that is truly simple, quick and effective. Not a skin care regimen that requires you to buy half of Priceline.

Me? I’m especially “relaxed” about beauty, particularly when it comes to cleaning off my makeup at night. Yes, I want to look as flawless as the next woman, just without all the effort.

And I’ve found a product that can help me do just that. In fact, it leaves my skin fresh and clean, while cutting my time over the sink in half.

That product is Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. It might sound like something out of your high school biology curriculum, but for anyone looking to combine many of the grueling steps involved with cleansing your skin, it’s a winner.

So what is exactly is it?

Micellar Cleansing Water contains micelles, these are minuscule molecules that can attract other fats like sebum and oil. Basically this active cleansing ingredient acts as a magnet to capture dirt and makeup on the skin without rubbing. It looks and feels just like water on the skin.

Are there different kinds?

Garnier has three options: for ‘Normal to Sensitive Skin’, ‘Combination to Oily Skin’ and ‘Pure Active for skin prone to imperfections’.

When do I use it?

Whenever you would usually cleanse or need to remove makeup

I tend to wake up with an oily sheen on my face, so I’ve been using Micellar Cleansing Water to quickly wipe my face before applying my makeup for work (it takes 15 seconds, max). Plus, I use it to remove my makeup again at the end of the day.

How do I use it?

Just squirt it onto a cotton pad and wipe it across your face. Because it doesn’t leave an oily residue you can just then moisturise normally. No rinsing or rubbing required. A little bit goes a long way, so there’s no need to soak the cotton pad through.

So, should I use it?

In my opinion? Strong affirmative. After using it daily for a week I can honestly say I’m sold. Notoriously lazy and always on the lookout for a beauty short cut, Micellar Cleansing Water has eliminated the need for a lot of other products in my rookie repertoire and my skin always feels fresh after using it. As well giving me an extra 10 minutes in the evening to watch Netflix.
