1. Dad pens a letter to Russian President Putin.

Hans de Borst, a Dutch father, has written to Russian President Vladimir Putin telling him that Hans’ only child, 17-year-old Elsemiek, was murdered on MH17. Both Elsemiek (above) and her mother were on the plane when it was shot down.

Mr Putin, Many thanks to the separatist leaders of Ukrainian Government for the murder of my dear and only child, Elsemiek….

I hope you are proud to have turned her young life upside down and that you can look in the mirror!…

2. Human remains found on Pearl Beach where a young boy went missing.

Forensics are investigating the human remains found on Pearl Beach by a dog walker, north of Sydney, two weeks after five-year-old Chayce Kofe was swept out to sea. Chayce’s relatives shared their grief online with his aunt, Lisa Kelly, saying, “I knew you would come back to us Chayce boy I never gave up.”

Police expect to have a result within 24 hours.

3. The house no one wants to live in. 

Gerard Baden-Clay’s home has been on the rental market since August 2012 (four months after Allison’s death and 10 weeks after he was charged and later found guilty of murdering his wife). But no one will rent it, according to The Daily Mail.

Since it failed to rent, owners of the one hectare block, which is also where Brookfield Early Childhood Centre is located, sought to expand the Centre and use the home as an office for staff.

4. The Great Barrier Reef is not looking so great.

Scientists have claimed that The Great Barrier Reef is in the worst state it’s been in since records began.

With the reef facing threats from coastal development, such as the dredging project at Abbot Point, experts have said the reef will be “pretty ugly” in 40 years time.

SBS reports that a Senate committee investigating how the Australian and Queensland governments have managed the reef (ahead of a UNESCO decision next year about whether to list it as a World Heritage site in danger) has heard from the Australian Coral Reef Society Society president Professor Peter Mumby, “It will be really pretty ugly.”

5. Politician seeking a "well hung" man. 

Palmer United Party senator, Jacqui Lambie, told talk back radio listeners this morning (after being single for 11 years) what she is looking for in a man:

"They must have heaps of cash and they've got to have a package between their legs. They don't even need to speak."

6. Want to add more kink to your sex life...move to the NT.

The Great Australian Sex Census, conducted by online dating site Red Hot Pie, found that NT has the kinkiest residents. NT are the winners for having the highest sex videotaping (42.2%) rate and sending naked selfies via mobiles (59.1%) across the country. Last place were resident of ACT (26% for sex tapes and 41.2% for naked selfies).

The census surveyed more than 17,000 Australians.
