Nineties kids, here’s a head-scratcher for you: who would win in a dual between Sabrina Spellman and Harry Potter?
According to Melissa Joan Hart, the actress who brought the original teenage witch to our small screens, the answer is obvious. It’s all Harry. “There’s something to be said for experience and schooling, and he’s sort of the ultimate,” she told The Huffington Post.
It’s been 20 years since Sabrina the Teenage Witch first went to air, and to mark the occasion, Melissa kindly answered a host of burning fan questions during a recent interview with The Huffington Post.
The queries ranged from the obvious (“Did Salem the cat actually talk?”) to the more, erm, conceptual (“Could the Other Realm also be Narnia?”). For those of you playing at home, the answers are no and definitely no.
Among the more persistent fan theories – and the first question posed to Melissa – is that the series is actually one big metaphor for homosexuality. After all, Sabrina can only become her true self by stepping into a closet. According to Melissa, the show’s creators weren’t quite that deep.
“I think that’s stretching a bit, but I can see how that’s a possibility,” she told the Huffington Post. “I think it’s more monetary in that the producers didn’t want to have to develop some crazy witchcraft set for the witches to go in and out of.”
