Naturally, as Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the Unites States, a great portion of the world is choosing to simply not watch.
Because if there is one thing old folklore will tell you, it’s that tuning out of something means it’s definitely not happening.
Instead, our energy is probably better spent deciphering who it was that ended up dressing Melania Trump and the subsequent backlash said designer may or may not be receiving for dressing her.
As it turns out, the First Lady was dressed by the iconic Ralph Lauren who had her in a striking ice blue cashmere dress and matching wrap jacket, drawing strong comparisons with the late Jackie Kennedy.
Many existing Ralph Lauren fans were swift in their criticisms of his brand for dressing what many perceive as one of the more controversial First couples to reach the White House.
Despite this, a spokesman for Mr. Lauren explained the decision was simply a result of a deep and innate respect for the office.
In a statement, he said: “The presidential inauguration is a time for the United States to look our best to the world. It was important to us to uphold and celebrate the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment.”
Keeping friends on both sides on the political spectrum, Lauren also dressed Hillary Clinton for the day, who wore a white pantsuit and matching cashmere coat as she attended an inauguration so many thought would be hers.
And Vanity Fair do not think her choice of colour was accidental.
“Hillary Clinton’s choice of white is especially notable and likely not coincidental; it was one of the colours worn by the suffragettes in the early 20th century, standing for purity, in an effort to protect them their opponent’s claims of immorality,” they wrote in their coverage of the big fashion moments of the inauguration.
Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, also wore white, but by another high-profile American designer in Oscar de la Renta. It’s believed to be the third de la Renta outfit the mother-of-three has worn this week alone.

Can a progressive explain why it's ok to boycott providing your goods and services to the wife of a politician, but if a Christian Bakery doesn't want to provide their goods and services to a gay wedding, they shouldn't be allowed to do that?
The Christian Bakery is allowed to refuse service. If a bakery refused to create his inauguration cake (the one they copied off Obama) there would be no problem. It is only when they refuse based on sex, religion, race they get into trouble.
I cannot handle Melania because I can't imagine that anyone decent would marry that thing but I'm the first to admit she looked absolutely stunning at the ball and the dress was beautiful. That's where my praise ends.
I feel the same way about Bill Clinton, she's eck in every way.
