The Spill: Thursday's best entertainment and gossip news.

1. “One of the most ruthless social climbers.” Someone let Piers Morgan go off on a tangent about Meghan Markle again.

British journalist Piers Morgan has once again taken the opportunity to rant about Meghan Markle, this time, calling her “one of the most ruthless social climbers” he’s ever met in his “entire life”.

Groan.

During Fox’s one-hour special Harry & Meghan: The Royals in Crisis, Morgan said, “The moment Meghan Markle no longer perceives you to be useful, it doesn’t matter how close a family member, or friend, you are, you get chopped.

“She’s done it to almost all her old friends. She’s now acquired new friends – Oprah, George Clooney, David Beckham, Elton John – and she’s done it to her ex-husband, she’s done it to most of her family, 99% of them,” he said.

And of course, he didn’t stop there.

Morgan went on to scrutinise Harry and Meghan’s decision to move to Canada which they announced earlier this month, before comparing the Duchess of Sussex to a mini Kim Kardashian.

Yes, really.

“They’ve gone off to be the big stars of the family, and it’s incredibly sad,” said Morgan. “I think it’s very damaging, I think it will end in tears, and I fear it will end in Harry’s tears.”

“If Meghan Markle thinks she’s gonna emerge from this as some kind of Princess Diana figure, she needs to think again. She’s going to end up like a mini royal Kim Kardashian, with all the ignominy that goes with that title.”

2. We hate to be the bearer of bad news but… Zac Efron is no longer single.

2006 was a weird time if you were an adolescent girl. It was the year High School Musical first came out and with it, we were introduced to Zac Efron.

Efron played Troy Bolton, the hair-swishing, ballad-singing, high school basketballer, and was blue-tacked onto many a teen bedroom.

Now 32 years old, we regret to inform you that Efron is reportedly dating his former co-star, Halston Sage.

And if you listen very quietly, you can hear the cries of 12-year-old girls, past, present and future.

The Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile actor met the 26-year-old when he starred in the 2014 film, Bad Neighbours. Sage has since appeared in The Last Summer, Dark Phoenix, Magnum P.I., Paper Towns and Before I Fall.

While there were rumours that the pair were romantically involved with each other at the time, Efron was later linked with Michelle Rodriguez in July 2014.

However, despite their recent reunion, the couple are already pretty “serious,” reports a source from US Weekly.

“[They] are in a serious relationship and in love,” they said.

“They spent the holidays together, with part of that time in Santa Barbara.”

Up until recently, Efron was dating Danish Olympian swimmer, Sarah Bro, who he began seeing in March 2019.

The couple seems to have ended on good terms with Bro still following him on Instagram.

3. Rihanna is apparently dating Kendall Jenner’s ex A$AP Rocky and just how small is the Hollywood dating pool?

After reportedly splitting with her billionaire boyfriend, Hassan Jameel, Rihanna has been spotted hanging out with 31-year-old rapper, A$AP Rocky, and fans are going wild.

“I’m sitting next to my brother and he’s taking this. It was the night we both met Kobe and he was so nice to us. So funny, so amazing and so kind (in the middle of a game!)…

“I’m sitting between Kobe and my brother and now they’re both gone. I have been staring at this photo for days in disbelief and sadness and joy,” he wrote.

“It’s my favorite picture and I think it represents for me, all of the hard and amazing things in life and how fleeting they are. But their fleeting nature doesn’t make them any less beautiful.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about saying Rest In Peace and what that means. But I don’t think Kobe or my brother are resting. I think they’re hustling up there. Working hard and getting shit done. Cuz that’s what they do. All my love to the ones here left behind. Take care of each other and love each other. That’s the lesson I’ve learned .”

5. ‘I can’t watch it.’ The story behind Jessica Simpson’s incredibly awkward Ellen interview.

When Jessica Simpson was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017, fans instantly speculated whether the singer was drunk.

Appearing on the talk show to chat about her fashion line and her new music, Simpson’s conversation with Ellen DeGeneres soon veered off track.

Although the interview started with talk of pregnancy, as Simpson had previously appeared on the show while pregnant, the mother-of-three soon began talking about her daughter’s birthday party, which involved a number of children’s entertainers dressed as mermaids.

“Silicone tails,” she announced, randomly. “They had… manhandlers. It’s not called manhandlers. No… they had to be carried if they had to pee… cause they can’t pee on my children in the pool. They pick them up, and carry them… it’s a business.”

Later on in the interview, Simpson appeared to have trouble remembering how long she had been married to her husband, Eric Johnson.

“Seven years now. Well, coming on seven years. Well actually seven,” she said.

“It’s a long time. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a seven-year relationship. Other than with a woman. Well, not that kind.”

After telling DeGeneres she’d been with her husband for seven years, Simpson went on to say that he was talented enough to massage her in his sleep.

“Even if he’s snoring, somehow he knows how to massage my back. It’s a very awesome talent,” she said.

“Maybe he’s not really sleeping, Jessica,” DeGeneres responded.

Piers Morgan might be obsessed with talking about Meghan Markle but he does make a few valid points in doing it.

Interesting that when journalists call out Donald Trump, people don't make these kinds of comments. I don't like Piers Morgan, but he's calling Harry and Megan out the same way critics of Trump do (ie incessantly and without apology).
