This post deals with miscarriage and might be triggering for some readers.
Selling Sunset star and realtor Mary Fitzgerald has opened up about experiencing a miscarriage while filming the Netflix reality show.
In the season premiere, Fitzgerald discovered that she and her husband Romain Bonnet were expecting their first child together. The pair were overjoyed, and were seen announcing the news to her co-stars.
However, nine weeks later, Fitzgerald was told she had miscarried after doctors couldn't locate a heartbeat during a routine ultrasound appointment.

"She started doing the ultrasound and I've seen that look before," Fitzgerald recounted to friend and co-star Amanza Smith on Selling Sunset. "I already started getting that sinking feeling. I just feel numb right now. I go from crying to just numb."
Fitzgerald continued in a piece to camera: "I don't know what the normal timeframe is to get over something like this. I just keep moving forward and trying to put a smile on my face and act like everything's okay but… It doesn't feel okay."
Earlier in the year, the 43-year-old spoke about the loss in a video posted to Instagram, revealing that she had suffered a septic miscarriage, which is when an infection occurs in the uterus after miscarrying.
Fitzgerald said she had to treat the infection and undergo surgery to remove the tissue from inside the uterus.
"I guess the only reason why I've been silent for a long time – and the reason why I'm speaking out now – is because I do realise how common this is and how many people go through this," she said in the video.
This week Fitzgerald shared that less than 24 hours after experiencing the miscarriage, Selling Sunset film crews were at her home to capture the grief.
"I think our appointment was 3pm or something and then they [production] were in my house at 7am," Fitzgerald told Daily Mail.
"We were actually supposed to have a scene that evening, and we were going to go show the ultrasound pictures and everything and when we found out Romain called production. He's like, 'You're not coming – if you guys show up at our house you will not be let on the property, do not come, we need a minute to just go and be by ourselves and grieve'."
As for why the couple decided to film a scene reflecting on the miscarriage the morning afterwards, Fitzgerald said she knew she had to talk about it and capture the "raw emotions".
Reflecting on the loss, Fitzgerald said to TODAY that it had been a total shock.
"I honestly didn't consider that I could lose the baby. I was just so excited and so focused on this new future, even though realistically I always knew that there was that chance. I just never let my mind go there. I was just optimistic and positive about it," she said.
"Romain has been extremely supportive. He always is. He's such a rock so he was really there for me when it happened and was making sure I was okay."
The reality star, who has a 28-year-old son named Austin, said that despite it being difficult to carry on, she will "keep trying" until she has "good news to share".
"We won't be giving up… and if this message speaks to you in any way, or you are feeling down, helpless, alone… please know we are in this together. Hang in there," she said in her Instagram video.
Fitzgerald, who was the Vice President of The Oppenheim Group, has subsequently decided to take some time away from the show, which is why she doesn't appear throughout the newest season of Selling Sunset as much. She has also stepped away from her position as manager of The Oppenheim Group, a title she's held since season five.
"I don't know what the normal timeframe is to get over something like this," she said on the show.
"I just keep moving forward and trying to put a smile on my face and act like everything's okay, but it doesn't feel okay."
