Married At First Sight alum Ollie Skelton has just launched a new podcast, TOSSER, and during a segment in the first episode, a torturous phone call between fellow MAFS groom Rupert Bugden and a MAFS bride – later identified as Bronte Schofield – was aired.
"Do you think there's anyone on the show who you could call and say 'Hey, do you want to pretend for a month or a bit that we're in a fake relationship'?" Ollie asked Rupert before they made the call.
"Yeah, I reckon I could get a couple," Rupert replied. "Potentially [bleep] would be the most likely to answer."
The boys then called the mystery woman, whose voice they warped.
"You've only got a short time on this crazy thing called MAFS and I was wondering: do you want to set up a few pap shots... and make it a thing for a month for the publicity?" Rupert asked.
Bronte laughed before replying, "If you want to, we can do that."
It's... painful to hear.
Watch the awkward phone call play out. Post continues after video.
At the end of the chat, Rupert rushed Bronte off the phone, to which she said, "Thanks for using me."
Bronte's final remark sums up this whole segment. While sold as a 'gotcha' moment for Bronte, it's worth noting that Rupert (Evelyn Ellis' ex-groom, ICYMI) didn't actually ask Bronte to 'fake a relationship'; rather, in classic Rupert style, he mumbled something about making it 'a thing', a confusing framing that could be interpreted in multiple ways.
