A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder of French student Sophie Collombet.
Benjamin James Milward was charged in Queensland after being extradited from NSW earlier today.
French student Sophie Collombet, 21, was found dead on the banks of Brisbane River 12 days ago. Her naked body was found in Kurilpa Park.
She had been bashed to death.
When police found Mr Milward in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday, he reportedly said: ‘YEAH, yeah – you got me’.
Milward is expected to appear in a Brisbane court tomorrow.

Another week, another dead woman. RIP Sophie.
I hope he gets life, his whole life, in prison. I have walked the streets of Brisbane at all hours for various reasons over the decade I have lived here- on the way home from hospitality jobs, uni classes, dinner, out dancing and drinking- and I have always felt safe. This poor girl was murdered next to a beautiful area where I take my children to the art gallery, on our way to shows at qpac and where my husband will often walk to his car quite late at night after work. I am so sick of having to live in fear of these monsters- how many women and men have to be murdered through various means before we say enough is enough and lock these nutcases up for life, never to be released?
I am so sorry that this happened in what should be a beautiful, safe city. Sorry to her and so sorry to her family. Like so many other heartaches- Daniel, Jill, Sophie, the list stretches on- I wish I had the ability to turn back time and find a way to intervene to deliver you back to your families safe and sound.
