Editor-in-Chief's Pick: 10 feminine online buys starting at just $24.

It’s our Editor in Chief’s final Picks post before heading off on maternity leave. And it’s a good one!

Hello everyone and welcome to your weekly shopping indulgence.

I’m in the final days of preparing for the arrival of my first baby; a boy who we’re expecting to join us any minute now. I’m absurdly excited but there’s one little problem: My world has turned blue. Everywhere I look there are cars and trucks and navy stripes and pale blue Peter Rabbits. It’s super cute but depressingly gendered and it’s making me yearn for all things girly.

The antidote? 10 feminine online buys that I am desperate to indulge in (and will as soon as this enormous belly is no more) and that you should do. Happy shopping…

Just as an FYI, you should know that this is an advertorial for Triumph.

1. Light pink leather-look A-line skirt from River Island.

RRP $50.00

Leather is one of the most fun things to wear but is generally pretty expensive. I have a rule that when buying something timeless, (a black leather jacket, for example) I am allowed to spend the big bucks on the Real Thing. But when it’s a seasonal piece (AKA a pink mini skirt) then faking it is a more sensible option. This A-line cut is flattering, and while I personally wouldn’t go for the matching black and white love hearts on my nipples, I am convinced they would look glorious on all of you.

2. Sleeveless puffer jacket from Witchery.

RRP $149.95

I have a confession to make: I own this in two colours already (tan and black). It is really warm and the fake fur hood makes it extra cosy; I wear both of them all the time. But now? Now they’ve gone and brought it out in this beautiful burgundy colour, that is so rich it makes you feel like a Queen. I am not sure I can justify a third purchase (in fact I know I can’t), so I pass that duty to you, dear readers.

3. Women’s free 5.0 sneakers in fuschia from Nike.

RRP $159.95

Fact: When you have pretty exercise gear, you exercise more. And these Nike runners are not just pretty but practical too. They feel like you’re running on nothing, almost as if you’re barefoot but without the blisters and bits of gravel sticking into your flesh.

4. Triaction zen bra from Triumph.

RRP $34.95 [Sponsored]

Since falling pregnant, my relationship with structured bras has died a slow and painful death. I am all about comfort now but here’s the sad thing about comfort: It usually walks hand-in-hand with ugly.

But not so for this cute bra from Triumph. I’m stocking up on a few for when I need a colourful break from maternity bras or to wear as a cheeky peek-a-boo under a white or grey singlet while lounging around the house being a lady of leisure with a newborn (ha!)

Bonus: The fancy fabric regulates moisture, so if you wanted to wear it for yoga or pilates, it would keep you cool and dry.

5. Cable and cotton string light from The Hut.

RRP $23.99

I love how comfortable and happy this bloke looks, sitting on his couch with mega girly decorations strung up around him. I will use this picture as proof that my husband will actually take happily to these funky lights despite his initial objections.

6. Structured skater dress in floral print from ASOS.

RRP $82.00

Florals are not just for Spring. And nor are flouncy skater-girl skirts. Admittedly, this frock would need to be paired with black tights, ballet flats and a snug coat in May – but the pattern is sedate enough to work in colder weather. This dress also works for me because it’s feminine without being young; florals can put you in danger of looking like a 6-year-old going to a birthday party.

7. Handmade 100% cotton robe from Novica.

RRP $57.99

Winter dressing gowns are a bit gross. I know they’re comfortable, snug and all the rest but I just don’t like them. Sorry to the dressing-gown devotees out there.

What I do love, though, is a robe. This one is just beautiful, 100% cotton and sourced from Novica who partner with National Geographic to bring the fashions of the world to our doorstep. Wear it and you’ll always be dreaming of Bali.

8. Tribalicious chain headpiece from Mimco.

RRP $29.00

There’s nothing more feminine than a tiara and why should they be reserved only for princesses? I get that this recommendation is a stretch; at 29-years-old, married and pregnant, it may be time to give up the dream of ending up with a real Prince Charming… BUT look at it!

Mimco make great quality costume jewellery and this piece is on sale at a hugely reduced price. I think it’s high time we all took some more fashion risks and this one flatters most face shapes, plus it will help hide a bad hair day. Go on…

9. Amore mesh tulle skirt from Chic Wish.

RRP $51.03

I will wear ballerina skirts until the day I die. I will also recommend them here as well, no matter how much I am mocked, until I am 100% positive every reader owns one. Hurry up, now.

10. Stella McCartney trousers from Polyvore.

RRP $760.00

Okay, this is my ridiculous non-purchase of the week. I promise I won’t actually spend $760 on pink pants but SOMEBODY should. Somebody who has a lot more money than me… These are a perfect cut, perfect colour, and they’re from a stellar designer (geddit?).

for future reference?? 9 years ago

I mean this in a nice way, the prices on some websites aren't in Australian, for example the string lights price is actually in pounds on the link, 24 pounds is roughly $50 aud. So nothing on this list actually starts at $24 you might want to look into currency conversions next time. I wish those string were $24 though, they're so cute! Sorry if this comes across as blunt, I know you produce a lot of stories in a short amount of time and things can be overlooked.
