1. Madeleine McCann investigation
In the UK, detectives have released information about a man who they suspect used to break into properties, around the time Madeleine McCann went missing, and sexually assault young girls.
Five girls aged between seven and 10 were sexually assaulted. These attacks happened between 2004 and 2006, before Madeleine vanished in 2007.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said: “I’m sure the public will understand that the significant features of this offending – a man with a vile interest in young, white, female children, who he is attacking in their beds while they are on holiday with their families – has got a very close resonance to some of the features of Madeleine’s disappearance.”
They have issued an appeal to find the man who they said wore a burgundy long-sleeved top.

Do we all remember that poor French woman who was abused in a disgusting sexist and racist attack on a bus the year before last? One of the guys has been jailed. Not for all that long mind you, but still a better sentence than I had expected. I hope those foul little trollops who abused that elderly blind man on a bus a few weeks ago get a custodial sentence as well.

On a happy note, a bloke bought an attractive egg shaped gold and jewel encrusted thing at a Midwestern English market. He paid about $15,000 for it, so it wasn't cheap. But he suspected more so he took it to a dealer in London who identified it as one of the lost Faberge eggs, which were made for the Russian Royal family in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The last time a Faberge egg was sold it went for $18 million.
Thanks Hanon. I know it's not in the same league, but being a book aficionado and habitually checking all the Op Shops and second hand markets, I did find a first edition Biggles book by Cpt WE Johns for $1.00. A collector later paid me $750 for it.
I thought I was doing well, until I read this story.
My envy is not a beautiful trait. :o)
