Two pregnancies and one lasting couple: Where the cast of Love Island Australia 2018 are now.

Ah, Love Island Australia. On last year’s season we were gifted a series of scandals, swimsuits and secret girlfriends, and this year we got, uh, not much.

Season two’s winners Josh and Anna were crowned this month, surprising precisely no one. And while the cast are only just beginning their influencer careers, and maybe don’t even have a teeth whitening endorsement deal yet, 2018’s cast are basically veterans.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane and see how the cast of Love Island Australia 2018 are doing more than a year on.

Justin Lacko.

After leaving Love Island, Justin Lacko bagged himself another reality TV appearance, this time on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Following his stint in the South African jungle, Justin said he had applied for The Bachelor… but he ended up not needing a third reality show as he went public with his girlfriend Anita Barone Scott in May.

This week Justin uploaded an ultrasound image to Instagram, announcing that he and Anita were expecting a baby in 2020.

“I can’t believe this is happening but it’s the best news to hear and I am very excited to share with you all that I’m going to be a daddy,” he wrote.

After sharing the news, Justin told Now To Love he and Anita are no longer together, but are looking forward to becoming parents in April/May 2020.

“We aren’t together anymore but we are very supportive of one another and will be loving and caring for our child. Best friends for life,” he said.

“This is such a great feeling and a perfect way to celebrate the last year of my 20s.”

He’s also an ambassador for The Kids Foundation and yes, still a very attractive international model.

Tayla Damir won the first season of Love Island Australia with Grant Crapp, but their relationship lasted less than three weeks after arriving back in Australia because it turned out Grant had a girlfriend the entire time he was on the show.

Oh.

Obviously, they broke up. Then a few months later she began dating fellow cast member Dom Thomas, who was originally partnered up with Shelby Mills.

Tayla and Dom split in June. Since then Tayla’s been living her best life travelling, and even appearing as a host on Mamamia’s daily entertainment podcast The Spill.

Just weeks after reading out texts begging to get back with Tayla, Grant and his ‘secret girlfriend’ Lucy Cartwright appeared on a magazine cover announcing their relationship.

Speaking to 9FIX after all the drama went down, Tayla said that Grant was on the show to “promote himself” and his girlfriend was “running his business” while Grant was inside the villa.

But according to Lucy, despite being friends for a long time, she wasn’t with Grant when he entered the Love Island villa.

“Obviously I was going into the villa with an open heart and looking for love,” Grant told NW Magazine.

“But then, I’ve come out, me and Tayla are finished and I’m back with Lucy.”

Regardless of the timeline, Grant and Lucy – who are both online personal trainers according to Instagram – have gone the distance and have recently purchased a number of homes together.

Erin Barnett and Eden Dally placed second in the 2018 season of Love Island Australia but split after three months together.

In recent months, Erin has documented her health struggles with anxiety, PCOS and endometriosis online – including revealing that she has had four surgeries this year because of cysts on her ovaries.

“Just because you can’t see my insides & how bad I have PCOS & endometriosis doesn’t mean my pain can’t be validated. It’s so hard for people to understand just how painful PCOS & endometriosis is,” she shared on Instagram.

“I’m bed bound a lot of the time, I randomly have clots come out of me during the day. No warning – no nothing. My body is like ‘pssst, I have a present for you lel’.”

The 24-year-old has been dating 43-year-old Mick Russell since late last year.

She said that dating Mick, a single father, was a blessing because she is unable to have children.

“I am so lucky to be with a man who treats me with respect and makes me truly happy every single day,” she wrote. “It’s also a blessing he has kids – as I can not have kids, ever, due to my medical issues.”

In June, Erin announced she and Mick had moved in together.

“This is the kind of relationship I always dreamed about but never thought I’d have. He treats me with respect everyday, he makes me laugh everyday, he helps me through my ups and downs everyday, but most importantly… He makes me happy EVERYDAY!! I could write an entire book on how he makes the best boyfriend,” she said.

Then he became one half of the craziest reality TV crossover couple we can think of and announced he was expecting a child with Married At First Sight‘s Cyrell Paule.

In August, Cyrell announced she was 12 weeks pregnant with her first child with her then-boyfriend of five months.

The 30-year-old, who became known as ‘Cyclone Cyrell’ on MAFS, said “it was not planned” but that they “can’t wait to raise a child together”.

Cyrell explained at the time she shared the pregnancy with Eden, 26, via text message, who was initially surprised at the news but says he always supported her.

On Instagram, Eden said he was “nervous and excited at the same time” about the pregnancy.

“We can’t wait for this next chapter of our life and to meet our little one. As for trolls I’m use [sic] to it and I don’t care what you call me or Cyrell but don’t insult our unborn child.”

In October, Eden and Cyrell announced the end of their relationship, but Eden praised his ex in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.

“Cyrell is going to be an amazing mother. She’s a very strong woman and we’ll always be there for each other. Hopefully we can try and work things out.

“I can’t wait to meet my little man and I’m looking forward to being a dad.”

He also revealed in a Instagram Q&A that he had applied to be on Big Brother in 2020.

Look, you’d be forgiven for thinking reality TV is not a good way to find love. It’s track record does seem… iffy, but Josh Moss and Amelia Plummer are the exception.

Josh and Amelia are the only contestants to still be in a relationship with the person they left with.

They regularly share sweet Instagram posts about each other, but they’re also realistic:

“I get so many messages about how perfect our relationship is etc etc,” Amelia wrote in an Instagram post. “It freaks me out to think that maybe I’m painting a false reality and setting unrealistic expectations of how relationships should be?! I’m just writing this as a little reminder that relationships ARE HARDDDD WORK… I share all of the amazing parts of our relationship so publicly so I felt the need to just mention this too. It’s been such an amazing year growing with this boy and learning how to share my life with someone else.”

Edyn Mackney, a.k.a ‘Mac’, has been posting semi-regular vlogs for the 75,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel since leaving Love Island. Videos include ‘how I got on Love Island’ and ‘answering your assumptions about me’, plus a few appearances from her boyfriend Apollo Jackson.

If that name is familiar to you, it’s because Apollo too has had a few reality TV appearances, as a bachelor on Sophie Monk’s season of The Bachelorette and again on Bachelor In Paradise.

When Millie Fuller paired up with Mark O’Dare on Love Island, the two left the villa together. After about nine months together, they announced their breakup in April this year and a month later unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted previous loved-up posts.

Millie wrote at the time that they were “both going in different directions” and it was a mutual decision to end their relationship.

“Mark and I have had such an amazing time together and we will forever cherish our special moments, unfortunately at this point in time we have decided we are both going in different directions and have to part ways,” she said.

From Instagram, it looks like Millie gained custody of their dog Bee, who appears in regular posts.

Cassidy McGill was the first to get with eventual winner Grant Crapp on Love Island, before he began a relationship with Tayla Damir. She continued to be unlucky-in-love on the show, and left on her own.

After leaving, Cassidy became a full-time influencer and has been open about how she finds it “hard work”.

In a video on Instagram, Cassidy said she wanted to “defend this stigma around having social media as a job”.

“Everyone thinks that we get paid a shitload to do f*ck all, and it’s really easy – it’s not easy, this job basically never stops and there’s a lot of pressure… I just want to give myself a pat on the back and my fellow influencers a pat on the back – it’s a damn hard job.”

In September Cassidy shared a snap of her new mystery boyfriend on Instagram, saying she would choose him over bread, “And that says a lot. Because I really like bread” (we feel that in our soul).
