Wow.
What is it with movie trailers blowing us away recently? 2012 is shaping up to be a massive year in cinema. And, um, Anne Hathaway? That’s some real talent going from Batman to Les Mis.
This :
So, who else is excited?
Oh, Anne, also, we love you:

Hmm, I'm in two minds.
On one hand, the trailer looks gorgeous. Beautiful costumes and scenery, great actors and a story my partner and I love.
On the other hand, we both sing - I'm in a choir and he's auditioning next week for a production of Les Mis (hoping for Valjean) - and actors who can carry a tune moderately well will be disappointing. I'd rather see singers who can act a bit, but I guess that wouldn't pull in the big bucks from a film studio.

quite a few of the main cast do have broadway/musical theatre experience though, so I think theyve gone for more than just actors that can carry a tune
though I might just be defending it because I'm of the opposite opinon - I also sing quite a lot, but think that given it's a movie rather than musical theatre the acting over singing choice is wise. plus they arent going to be autotuned into oblivion so that should make it a little more interesting :)
I'm not of two minds. Anne's voice was awful. So awful that all I could focus on was how awful it was. I LOVE musicals and using someone who can't sing just ruins the whole thing for me.
I didn't like her singing at ALL either. She sounded really weak vocally. I hope she gets better throughout the film. On the upside, I know Hugh Jackman who is playing Jean Valjean will be AMAZING. The actress they have cast as Eponine is incredible as well. Her name is Samatha Burke. Google her performance of "On my own". She's really talented.
Fantine isn't one of the biggest parts compared to the others anyway, so hopefully Anne won't botch up the film for too long.
If you want to google Eponine - it's Samantha BARKS - not Burke. Was wondering why I couldn't find it!
This trailer looks beautiful and boasts a stunning cast.. Can't wait to see it on release. In the meantime, I recommend fans watch the DVD of the 25th anniversary of Les Miserables (concert), filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It's breathtaking.
Oh yes! I cannot NOT cry everytime I watch the finale.....beautiful.
