This woman actually found a leech living INSIDE HER FACE.

WORST NIGHTMARE LEVEL: 1 GAZILLION

Daniela Liverani, an English backpacker who found herself with recurring nosebleeds, assumed they were the result of a minor motorcycle accident she had in south-east Asia.

She assumed wrong.

Her nose was bleeding because there was a FREAKING LEECH LIVING IN THERE.

Liverani didn’t realise a leech had set up camp mere inches away from her brain until she saw the damn thing hanging out of her nose. She told The Daily Mail:

“When I was in the shower, he would come right out as far as my bottom lip and I could see him sticking out the bottom of my nose. So when that happened, I jumped out of the shower to look really closely in the mirror and I saw ridges on him. That’s when I realised he was an animal.”

She was rushed to hospital, where doctors struggled to remove the creature with forceps and tweezers:

“It was agony – whenever the doctor grabbed him, I could feel the leech tugging at the inside of my nose. Then all of a sudden, after half an hour, the pain stopped and the doctor had the leech in the tweezers. He was about as long as my forefinger and as fat as my thumb.”

She even named her little blood-sucking friend:

“He had been curled up in a big ball, using my nostril as a little nest, so Jenny and I called him Mr Curly. At one point, I could feel him up at my eyebrow.”

UP AT HER EYEBROW.

Apparently it would have been quite small when it made its way into her nose, probably through contaminated drinking or swimming water.

Liverani is fine, but doctors warned her that she was lucky to have discovered the leech before it made its way to her brain.
