LeAnn Rimes is at the centre of her blended family. This wasn't always the case.

From the age of three, LeAnn Rimes was singing.

By 14, LeAnn became the youngest person to win a Grammy Award — her face, celebrity and music becoming synonymous with the late '90s. Hits included 'Blue' and 'How Do I Live'. Only a few years later did her iconic hit 'Can't Fight the Moonlight' storm onto the charts thanks to the film Coyote Ugly.

It fast-tracked her to becoming one of the most popular country singers in America.

But after what was arguably her biggest hit crept off the music charts, LeAnn's time in the spotlight dimmed down.

Over the years, she has been vocal about the impact fame at such a young age had on her, as well as the challenges of maintaining a strong music career.

Here's what LeAnn's life looks like now, as she joins the judging panel as a coach on The Voice Australia.

After the success of 'Can't Fight the Moonlight', LeAnn went on to record more music and also tried her hand at acting. But she didn't have any breakout roles.

LeAnn has since said the success she experienced so early in life contributed to her struggles with anxiety and depression as an adult.

"The one thing about me is I have a lot of grit. And I have a lot of resilience. If I wasn't resilient, I wouldn't be here," Rimes said to CBS News this month.

"I mean, there's been many times in my life that I could've easily chosen a different way out or just not come back from where I was. But I have such a fight. That rebellion that has gotten me into trouble many times has also saved my life. I mean, vulnerability is such a superpower. It's our greatest superpower, in my opinion."

LeAnn has since gone on to write a blog, release new albums and work on contemporary Christian and country music.

Celebrating her 40th birthday in 2022, she said: "I want to see women powerful and contributing to this world and sharing their wisdom. It's time to make a shift. The narrative is slowly changing, but I believe women like myself can lead an example of how vibrant life can be."

In 2001, LeAnn met Dean Sheremet who was working as one of her backup dancers at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

She later said that after one date, she knew "this is the guy I want to marry". And indeed they did, marrying in 2002.

However, by 2009 things took a turn in their relationship.

During that year, LeAnn met American/Cuban actor Eddie Cibrian on the set of the film Northern Lights.

They hit it off, so much so that they began having an affair. LeAnn was still married to Dean Sheremet at the time, while Eddie was married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Brandi Glanville. Eddie and Brandi shared two young boys together — Mason and Jake.

When the news broke about the affair, tabloid media headlines were everywhere. LeAnn split with Dean shortly after the affair went public in March 2009, and Eddie filed for divorce from Brandi in August 2009.

Two years later, LeAnn and Eddie were married.

Reflecting on the rocky path it took to find one another, LeAnn said to PEOPLE: "I take responsibility for everything I've done. I hate that people got hurt, but I don't regret the outcome. I did one of the most selfish things that I possibly could do, in hurting someone else."

LeAnn and Eddie have continued their relationship and celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in 2021.

"Happy Anniversary, my Love! I am so blessed to be able to share this life with you and the boys. Thank you for being the safe place to finally rest my heart," LeAnn wrote on Instagram to commemorate.

"Without you, my journey of expansion and self-discovery, my homecoming back to my own wholeness may have never happened. Thank you for holding a space for all of me to be expressed and seen, even if I, myself am still sometimes waking up to all of who you know me to be. You are the biggest cheerleader in my life, my greatest admirer and I yours."

LeAnn Rimes on being a stepmother.

When LeAnn and Eddie married in 2011, Eddie's two boys were still under ten years old.

Throughout the years, there has been publicly documented animosity between Brandi Glanville, her ex-husband and his new partner. But somehow, they made it work — even smoothing things over recently.

LeAnn and Eddie never went on to have children together.

Reflecting on the struggles of 'co-parenting' with Glanville, LeAnn said to Extra: "Having these two little boys in my life and figuring our way around that whole world of you know, co-parenting and kids — it's been amazing with him and we have a great life, but it's definitely had its challenges."

Both boys, Mason and Jake, are now in their mid to late teens. Seeing them grow has been very rewarding, LeAnn told Refinery29.

"It's been really rewarding to see them grow up, and know that I have a part in that. That responsibility, to help raise kids, it's something that hits you really hard. It was something I was up for the challenge of. They bring so much joy to my life, and it's a new experience every day."

In 2021, LeAnn, Brandi, and Eddie celebrated Mother's Day together with the boys — a major milestone considering the years of estrangement that took place. On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Brandi was known for sharing her negative opinion of Eddie and LeAnn on the show regularly. But over time, something shifted.

As Brandi said to ET: "I don't know how we did it, all three of us, LeAnn, Eddie and myself. We — that's a big thing for me to say, we. We have amazing children, Mason's six foot four, he's gorgeous. Jake's gorgeous and he knows it! But they're so smart, they're kind, they're good people."

Most years, LeAnn said that she and the boys like to celebrate 'Stepmum Day' — the Sunday after Mother's Day.

"We celebrate with the kids as we have the last couple of years. We go to dinner and do the whole thing. I love the fact that there is a stepmum's day and an option [for stepparents to celebrate]. It's so different for each family. I love that we have a separate day and I think it's important that people know about it," she said.

LeAnn went on to explain that given she and Eddie have had the boys half of the time, as per a custody agreement, she feels like she has played a strong mother role in their lives too.

"I think parenting is challenging, period. They were two and six when I was first around them. To watch them have a childhood, it's been amazing to see. It's been a really big learning experience for me."

After also signing on to The Voice UK earlier this year, LeAnn took her talents down under to join the coaching panel on The Voice Australia.

Of joining the squad, which includes Guy Sebastian, Adam Lambert and Kate Miller Heidke, LeAnn reveals her decision was motivated by her own experiences in the industry.

"I didn’t really have a mentor," she told TV Week. "I was young and had people who were protective of me, but I never had that person I could call upon all the time. It was kind of lonely being a kid in this industry. Only in the past five or six years did I feel I actually had peers."

With The Voice Australia only just premiering on Channel Seven, LeAnn still has every opportunity to win with her team.

LeAnn Rimes on her struggles with psoriasis.

In an essay for Glamour, LeAnn talked about her experience with psoriasis – something she's had since she was two years old.

Psoriasis is a condition where the body produces new skin cells in days, rather than weeks, without naturally sloughing them off in between. It causes scaling skin with spontaneous relapses and remissions, along with pain, itchiness and irritation.

"When I was in public, I did I everything I could to hide it. Onstage I’d often wear two pairs of pantyhose or jeans. Underneath my shirt, my whole stomach would be covered in thick scales that would hurt and bleed. For so much of my life, I felt like I had to hide," she wrote.

The singer said she's spent most of her life trying to treat her psoriasis with steroid creams, medications and experimental treatments, saying she felt like she was hiding and holding herself back.

But in honour of World Psoriasis Day, Rimes decided to pose nude and raise awareness of the autoimmune disease.

"I want to give a voice to what so many other people are going through. This is finally my time to be honest about what psoriasis is and what it looks like," she said.

"You know when you say something you've been holding in for so long, and it's such a sigh of relief? That's what these photos are to me. I needed this. My whole body – my mind, my spirit – needed this desperately.

"When I look at these photos, I see so much more than my skin."
