Kylie Jenner is officially the world’s youngest ‘self-made’ billionaire.
But as part of the insanely famous and insanely rich Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kylie’s ‘self-made’ title has been called into question.
There’s no doubt she was born into privilege and status that enabled her to start her makeup empire Kylie Cosmetics and be successful in a way that your everyday woman cannot.
Forbes associate editor Natalie Robehmed broke the story about Kylie’s net worth milestone and spoke to Mamamia‘s daily news podcast The Quicky about why the self-made title fits.

“Forbes defines self-made in opposition to inherited wealth, so essentially if you inherited your company or inherited your entire fortune you don’t count as self-made, but Kylie counts as self-made because she started her company herself, she did not inherit it,” she told host Claire Murphy.
The magazine also uses a scale to measure self-made, because obviously self-made Kylie and self-made Oprah are not the same.

“I think if we look at any of the recent women, particularly in make-up, who have broken through, they have done so with the aid of social media. So, without the head start that she got from her family and social media it’s really hard to imagine that Kylie Jenner would be a billionaire now.”
...You think?
Take a bow, Kylie - your success is thanks to your big sister doing a porn film which was "accidentally" leaked to the public, and a face and body that has been rearranged a dozen times before you turned 20. So feminist. Much empowered.
So a woman has a sex tape leaked and decided to create a multi-million dollar industry for her entire family rather than simply cry and hide. But she's not a feminist? A family of strong women have done what they want to their hair and bodies and heck made some money out of it in the process. But they're not savvy business women? Kylie could have done nothing with her family's fame - just done the show and left it at that, but she invested her own money and became a billionaire. You may think she's tacky but you can't deny she's brilliant. Feminism is about choice. The choice to be natural or the choice to have lip fillers. Empowered means to be given power by something - seems to me like she's been given plenty of power by her family, and she's using that power how she likes.
Only brilliant member of that family is Kris. The others are just merely billboards for a brand who pretend the porn wasn't professionally shot and that their "beauty" is all-natural and not surgically enhanced up the wahzoo. I guess you believe brilliant Kylie actually thinks of all the business strategies and product ideas herself, too...
From just one porn film to a billion dollar fortune. Have to, begrudgingly, admire their savvy business senses. I'm sure plenty have tried and failed to replicate that kind of success with their own porn films.
Whether she does or not I give her credit for making a ton of money out of her small role on her family's reality show - nothing wrong with that. I'm not really into tearing women down just because they think of beauty in a different way to me (or even because they filmed a little sex video). And definitely not because I'm jealous of their fortune. The more female billionaires the better I say!
