The moment Indigenous actress Kylie Farmer stole the show on last night's Q&A.

Indigenous actress Kylie Farmer’s reading of Shakespeare in Noongar, the Indigenous language of her family, was the highlight of Q&A this week.

Last night’s episode of the ABC show used the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare to discuss how the playwright’s works befit modern life in Australia.

Farmer read Shakespeare’s Sonnet 127 in Noongar, the Indigenous language of a part of WA, with actor playwright and screenwriter Kate Mulvany providing a translation.

When asked what she thought Shakespeare was saying in the Sonnet, Farmer put it simply.

“I’d like to think he’s lobbying for the beauty in the blackness,” the actress said.
