It was a big morning in breakfast radio, with Sydney’s Kyle and Jackie O and Melbourne’s Kate and Hughesy, and Matt and Jo having their respective last shows.

In Sydney, Kyle and Jackie O were quick to announce their new direction, with the worst-kept secret in radio finally being officially confirmed: the pair will be on MIX 106.5 from next year:

The Kyle and Jackie O Show managed to be controversial right until the end, with their final show playing host the Ajay Rochester’s final weigh-in for the Kyle and Jackie O ‘fat bet.’ Kyle told her to vomit before she stepped onto the scales.

<sarcasm>Classy and tasteful ’til the end, right?</sarcasm>

Down in Melbourne, Jo Stanley and Matt Tilley ended their show with a final curtain call:

Miley Cyrus could be TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year.

Okay, come on human race. The jig is up. This is just silly now. We need to stop. We CAN stop. Because this is just ridiculous.

Miley Cyrus is currently the top ranked candidate for TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year. The honour that has previously been bestowed upon Mahatma Gandhi, Queen Elizabeth II and Barack Obama (twice.) The 21-year-old popstar has 29% of the vote. TWENTY-NINE PERCENT OF THE VOTE.

She’s 14% ahead of the next ranked candidate: Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister of Turkey. Other notable (i.e. not Miley Cyrus) nominees include Edward Snowden on around 6% and everyone’s favourite filibusterer, Wendy Davis, on 4%.

But, it’s okay, you guys. This whole public poll thing is a just a little bit of pseudo-democracy, and the TIME Magazine editors make the final decision.

The nice guy of Australian comedy is taking a break.

Australian comedian Adam Hills has announced that he is taking a break from ABC TV to spend more time with his family.

The former Spicks and Specks host wrote on his blog:

I just thought I’d write a wee blog to explain why, after nine years of hosting my own shows on Australian TV, I have decided not to present Adam Hills Tonight for ABC1 in 2014.

Basically, I need a rest. More to the point, I need a break. I fear that in trying to combine a career on UK TV as well as one in Australia, I am in danger of, to put it simply, running out of funny. I love what I do, and am very lucky to do it, but it is also important to recharge every now and then.

The 43-year-old comedian has been married to opera singer, Ali McGregor, since 2009. They have a three-year-old daughter, Beatrice, and McGregor is currently pregnant with their second child, another girl. Hills wrote:

The mere fact that I will be the father of two girls means I will need to get back to work as soon as possible, in order to pay for whatever outrageous demands teenagers will have in 2023, so rest assured I will be banging on the ABC’s door before the end of the year with a whole laptop full of new ideas, and may even resurrect Adam Hills Tonight in 2015 if anyone will let me.

But, Hills fans shouldn’t be too disappointed. His UK show, The Last Leg, will continue to be syndicated by the ABC for Australian audiences next year.

The movie everyone was talking about turned out to be the worst performing film of the year.

Remember the film The Fifth Estate? You know, the one with Benedict Cumberbatch as Julian Assange. You know, the one that cost $30.85 million to make. You know, the film that we were all talking about in September.

You know, the film that none of us actually went and watched.

The Fifth Estate has been named Forbes’ Worst Performing Film of 2013. The film only made $6 million worldwide, a measly 21% of its budget. Here are the rest of the year’s worst performers:

If Jennifer Lawrence actually did volunteer as tribute, the odds would probably not be in her favour.

Every Hunger Games fan knows that, although they would like to think that they would totally win the Hunger Games because they are a stealthy warrior, in reality, they would probably be one of those nameless tributes from Districts 8-10 who die in the first five minutes.

But, it turns out that such a death would put you in good company.

In a recent Reddit Q&A, director of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Francis Lawrence (no relation to HRH J-Law) has revealed which cast members he thought would be able to win the Hunger Games. He said:

I would say Josh or Liam. They are both really smart and both very athletic. Liam might have a little more brawn, but Josh is pretty fast and pretty damn smart.

And, as for J-Law:

Jennifer is way too klutzy to actually survive.

So, you and Jennifer could be those tributes who die in the first five minutes. Your faces could be displayed side by side in the sky at the end of the day. YOU COULD BE BEST FRIENDS.

Could Peaches Geldof face criminal charges for doing this?

Peaches Geldof is currently being investigated by police after tweeting the names of two mothers who assisted a former rock star to sexually abuse their babies.

Ian Watkins, the lead singer of band, the Lostprophets, has been the talk of the UK press for the past week after pleading guilty to charges of pedophilia, including the attempted rape of a baby, on Tuesday.

24-year-old Geldof – the daughter of Boomtown Rats singer, Bob Geldof – tweeted the names of the two women who were also involved in the assaults to her 160,000 followers. In her tweets, Geldof said that the names of the “sick, horrible women” had been published on “several websites”, despite technically being classified to protect the women and their families. The tweets have since been deleted.
