I’m not pregnant, nor have I been. So I can only imagine how difficult it would be to style a pregnant belly without wearing something that resembles a potato sack. (I have endured similar problems from time the time and I’m not doing something miraculous like growing a human. #foodbaby.)
I'm not normally one to defend Kim Kardashian West, but when I saw the tabloid headlines criticising Kim Kardashian West's attire as she attended a New York Fashion Week event this weekend, I got mad.
The latest controversy took place on Friday when Kim was seen attending Riccardo Tisci's Givenchy fashion show with her husband Kayne West. The show was held as part of New York Fashion week and featured Kardashian West's half-sister, Kendall Jenner walking the runway, making it a family affair.
Unfortunately, no eyes were on Jenner as all everyone could talk about was Kim's pregnant belly in a sheer little black dress.
Entertainment Tonight wrote, "The sheer illusion paneling of the black dress put the 34-year-old's growing belly on full display, and from the look on Kim's face, she was damn proud of the lacy outfit."
...and so she damn well should be!
She's growing a child, her body is growing and developing new life. Does that mean she should cover her baby belly with beige, over-sized clothes to take the attention away from it? Of course not.
During a separate appearance, another tabloid critiqued Kim for wearing clothes they deem 'too small' for her growing body and questioned whether she had chosen the outfit by accident.
"Indeed the unique challenges of a constantly changing body shape mean clothes can flatter one day and not fit the next.
Perhaps that is what happened to Kim Kardashian, whose tight outfit looked a shade on the small side as she stepped out on Sunday," wrote The Daily Mail.
Or maybe, just maybe she felt comfortable and sexy and happy in that outfit and at the end of the day, isn't that her choice?
Check out Kim Kardashian's Instagram photos that she's shared in the last month which show her "bump". Post continues after the gallery.
Instead of critiquing the mum-to-be on her fashion, perhaps we could celebrate the fact that she is finally pregnant with the second child she's been dreaming of for years.
Kim Kardashian, I hope you are strong enough to ignore what these silly tabloid papers say and remember what is important through all of this, yourself and the health of your unborn baby.
Did you ever face criticism over your choice of clothes while pregnant?
