Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson knew the assignment when they rocked up to the 2022 Met Gala.
They closed out the red carpet - a coveted position reserved for fashion heavyweights or the 'it' celebrities of the moment - marking the importance of 'Skete' in pop culture.

With all this hype in mind, it's hard to believe Kardashian and Davidson have only been together since late 2021.
But as a lot has happened in this short period, we thought it helpful to recap everything we know about the relationship between the reality star and Saturday Night Live comedian.
More than a year after filing for divorce from Kanye West, Kim Kardashian was declared 'legally single' in March 2022. It was a messy divorce between the two, and continues to be, with West repeatedly making aggressive "social media outbursts".
And a lot of those outbursts had to do with Pete Davidson.
In late 2021, Davidson and Kardashian were seen out together at a Californian theme park. The pair were holding hands on a rollercoaster and were joined for the outing by Kourtney Kardashian and her fiancé Travis Barker.
It was the pairing that precisely no one saw coming
At the time a source 'close to the family' said to PEOPLE: "They hang in the same circles so they will be together from time to time. It's just friends hanging out."
However, just a short time before, Kardashian and Davidson had performed together during her SNL hosing debut – the pair sharing a kiss during one sketch.
She later said to the press that her and Davidson had been talking prior to the SNL performance.
By late November, the couple confirmed their relationship.
But as the romance between Kardashian and Davidson developed, Kanye West's frustration grew. He made his feelings public, and things got pretty scary very quickly.
In text messages West posted publicly, Kardashian told West he was "creating a dangerous and scary environment".
"Someone will hurt Pete and this will all be your fault," she told him. Soon after, West apologised for sharing their private messages. He said he was "going to handle the situation myself" and asked "upon my wife's request" that his followers not "do anything physical" to Davidson.
Later in a court hearing, Kardashian described West's "social media outbursts" as "causing emotional distress" to her and her loved ones.
And then in March 2022, things got worse.
Just hours after Kardashian was declared 'legally single', West dropped a music video for his song 'Eazy'. The video clip portrays him kidnapping and burying a claymation depiction of Davidson (who he calls Skete) alive. Roses sprout from the characters's head and are then loaded into the back of a pickup truck - a reference to West's public Valentine's Day gift to Kardashian. The song featured lyrics like, "God saved me from the crash, just so I can beat Pete Davidson's a**"..The spectacle was a disturbing watch.
Regardless, Davidson and Kardashian continued on with their relationship. And by April, they were making things Instagram official.
Speaking to Ellen on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Kardashian said they had taken things to the next level, with Davidson deciding to get a branding of his new girlfriend's name on his chest. Along with that, he got a tattoo which says, "My girl is a lawyer".
In a sitdown interview with ABC, Kardashian also said about Davidson: "I am a relationship kind of girl, for sure, and I wouldn't be with someone if I didn't plan on spending a lot of my time with them. Obviously, I want to take my time, but I'm very happy and very content. And it's such a good feeling just to be at peace."
Her mum gave the relationship her seal of approval as well, saying: "Pete's great, Pete's great. He's a really nice guy."
As for West and Kardashian's four children - North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm - she decided not to introduce Davidson until the pair were six months into their relationship.
"I definitely wanted to wait six months, and that was the marker," she shared with the US morning show Today.
She went on to share she had "consulted" with therapists and friends, including her sister Kourtney, as they had "been through it".
"I think it's different for everyone; different things work for different people, and you just have to do what feels right and try to be as respectful and cautious as possible," she went on to share.
Earlier this month, an insider told PEOPLE that Davidson was "slowly" getting to know Kardashian's four children.
"Kim trusts Pete with her kids. He is starting to spend time with them without her. She wants her kids to bond with Pete," they said. "Kim's relationship with Pete is very strong. They are talking about the future. It's very important to Kim that her kids get along with Pete."
According to the source, Davidson does not spend time alone with the children, and security is always present.
"They never tried to rush anything. He has slowly been getting to know them," they went on to explain.
"The kids love having Pete around. He is a fun guy. He plays with them and gives them a lot of attention. It makes Kim very happy that they all get along."
Listen to The Spill: Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson's red carpet debut raises one big question. Post continues after audio.
Reflecting on that SNL sketch with Davidson, Kardashian said in a podcast interview that there was always a spark from the beginning.
"[During that sketch] when we kissed, I was just like 'hmmm'. It was a stage kiss but there was still a little zing. I really haven't kissed someone else in ten years so maybe I'm just being stupid and it's nothing. But a few days later I still felt 'hmmm'," she said. "I said I've got to put myself out there."
And that she did – with the world seeing the results on the Met Gala red carpet as the couple walked hand in hand.
As for what we can expect to see from the duo in the future, Kardashian said to Ellen DeGeneres she is keen on being a bit more selective when sharing her relationship with the world.
"I have the cutest pictures of us and I want to be like, 'oh my God, we're so cute.' But then I'm like, 'Don't be so desperate. Don't be posting so much, just give a glimpse'," she said. "I don't know what the right thing to do is, like I haven't dated since before Instagram existed. Yeah, I don't know what the rules are."
What's for certain is that she and Davidson will create a whole new set of pop culture moments along the way.
