Three kids. Lots of sports.
That’s a simple way to summarize my life.
Just this summer so far they’ve signed up to summer soccer, cricket, tennis, Oz-Tag, swimming, basketball and gymnastics.
That’s a lot of sports kits, lots of lost balls and lots and lots of clothing.
My two sons and daughter need clothes that fit well and last.
Too many times I have compromised on cheaper quality gear only to find that it’s not long before I am headed straight back out to the shops to buy another one when it wears out.
This summer I’m not taking any chances. I’m investing in sports gear that works just as well as day-to-day clothing for my kids, clothes that they love and I know are going to last.
1. adidas Kid’s Z.N.E. Full Zip Hoodie.
Every kid needs a hoodie to throw on after training or just to keep warm when the summer evening turns a little chilly.
This one has the added bonus of being an adidas hoodie, and that, in the world of my soccer obsessed middle child, scores big points.
It has extended sleeves with those cool thumbholes they love to poke their fingers out and a slide full front zipper making it easy to throw on and off.
The only difficulty is what colour to get. Black or white?
I’ve got two boys so I think I might just get one of each, and maybe another one for my daughter.

2. The Under Armour Girls’ Luna Tank.
The athletic kid needs clothes that let her move.
The Under Armour Girl’s Luna Tank is the perfect top any soccer player, AFL player, gymnast or just the kid who wants comfy, sporty clothes that make them feel good. It has a classic racer-back design with full mesh back panel and a drop-tail hem giving them lots of coverage to let them be as active as they want.
Oh and it also comes in a gorgeous hot pink – and black – but knowing my little girl, hot pink is going to be the one we end up with.
3. The Under Armour Girls’ Mix Master Legging.
Oh, how we love leggings. My daughter lives in her leggings. Who ever invented that phrase “leggings aren’t pants” mustn’t have had active kids.
I’ve found you really can tell the difference between a cheap legging and a good quality legging. The cheap leggings bag and sag and the first time your budding soccer player slide tackles her opponent you will see why it’s important to buy ones that will last. The Under Armour Girl’s Mix Master Legging are not just value for money but they last.
It doesn’t get better than that.

4. Nike Boys’ Futura Tee.
Looking for a bright t-shirt without a superhero on it or a ridiculous slogan? Here it is. The Nike Boy’s Futura Tee comes in a variety of colours that the boys like and washes well. Perfect.
Suitable for all kids. Image: rebel.
5. Nike Boys’ Club Jersey Short.
What I need for my boys is a pair of shorts that can be multi-functional. The Nike Boys’ Club Jersey Short works as tennis shorts, soccer shorts, AFL shorts, footy shorts and even work well for cricket practice. They also go perfectly with the Nike Futura Tee.
6. adidas Boys’ Panel Short.
Because my boys are sporty, active and frankly, a little bit dirty we can never have too many shorts. The adidas Boys’ Panel Short has CLIMALITE fabric technology to sweep the sweat away from their skin and works well as a game short on Saturdays.

7. Nike Zoom Pegasus 33 Runners in blue.
I’m not sure where he got it from but my seven-year-old son has a little bit of a shoe fetish.
He wants these Nike Zoom Pegasus 33 Runners because they look “fast” and “cool”. I want them from him because they look like they will last.
Oh, and I think they’re pretty cool too.

8. Nike Zoom Pegasus 33 Runners in pink.
Do they come in adult sizes? Have you seen the cute mesh sides?
I’m not sure I’ll get my daughter out of these this summer. And they’re not just great for sport. Can you imagine how cute they would look with a pair of denim shorts and a cute tee?
9. adidas Duramo 7 Runners.
How do you decide which pair of runners to buy? One of the upsides of having three lots of kids’ shoes to buy each time we hit the shops is that we can buy one pair of each.
My little adidas addict is desperate for a pair of “Duramo 7s”.
And at this price, he’s got me convinced.
