Keira Knightley is pretty much Robin Hood, but daintier.
She might be one of the best paid celebrities in the world, but she doesn’t behave like it.
She might British-chuckle all the way to the bank each year with the proceeds of her multi-million-dollar Chanel contract, but she doesn’t spend it all.
It would be improper to splash cash around, you see. So the 29-year-old Pirates of the Carribean actress gives herself a strict allowance. She wants to connect with the commoners, which aint possible if you’re drinking pure gold from a champagne flute.
Keira told Glamour that she tries to limit her spending to $50,000 a year.
“I think living an (expensive) lifestyle means you can’t hang out with people who don’t live that lifestyle,” Keira said. “It alienates you. Some of my best most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.”
But as soon as she revealed her frugal rules, she almost immediately undermined them:
“I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that (her yearly allowance), I get it.”
This sounds a little like the time Justin Bieber insisted his mother only let him spend $50 a day, despite the millions in his bank account. Ooh, or that time Rihanna said she was poor because she was down to her last million.
Celebrities like Keira could build a castle with piles of their own cash, line the inside of their designer clothes with $100 bills, and replace all their teeth with diamonds.
OR
They could donate enormous chunks of their fortune to charity……. What do you reckon, KK?
At the very least, you could have a ‘hilarious time’ in the ‘least luxurious places’ we visit on Friday night for after-work drinks. See you there?

Why dont you tell Cate, Nicole, Mia to give their money away to charity? At least she's mindful of what she consumes.
She undermines her frugal living rules the same way i do. If I really want something that is more than I have to spend I put it on credit card - same difference.
The way I see it she is trying to live like a normal person not a celebrity insofar as that is possible when you actually are a celebrity. Maybe she does donate millions to charity but doesn't shout it from the roof tops in case she is criticised for trying to take credit for flashy philanthropy?
