Now you can reward your vagina for exercising

Even the most motivated among us need a bit of coaxing when it comes to exercise sometimes.

On particularly freezing mornings, or those horrifically hungover days, it can be necessary to bribe yourself to work out by way of rewards. ‘If you work out today, you can sleep in tomorrow.’ ‘If you work out today, I’ll take you to the movies tonight.’

Apparently, this rewards program should also be applied when working on the more intimate muscles of our bodies. Yep, we’re talking Kegels here – the exercise that keeps your pelvic floor muscles nice and strong.

Women are recommended to give their Kegel muscles a gentle squeeze throughout the day, to enhance bladder control, musculoskeletal stability and sexual pleasure.

However, apparently many of us (30 per cent, according to studies) are either doing it all wrong or just neglecting this exercise altogether. It’s hardly surprising – unlike other muscle-training exercises, you can’t exactly show women how to work on their pelvic floor muscles. At least, not in public.

That could all end soon. There’s a new product currently being funded through Kickstarter that could offer the guidance we evidence all need – and a nice little reward for all that hard work. It’s already more than doubled the funding it needs, and there are still 17 days left for the project to collect cash.

This colourful little prototype right here is the kGoal Smart Kegel Trainer:

It's like a very encouraging (if inanimate) personal trainer for your vagina, in that it guides, measures and tracks your Kegel-flexing performance. Best PT session ever - you don't even have to get out of bed!

A squishy silicone pillow, which is inserted into your vagina, tracks how your pelvic workout is coming along and offers feedback through an app. You can see how many reps you've done, your average squeeze time, and your weekly improvement.

The best bit? When you do the exercise right, that feedback is delivered in the form of a vibration.

Yes, you read correctly; while any kind of exercise program will give you a buzz, this one will give you a buzzzzzz. Even better news - you can dial up the vibration if you feel you deserve an even better reward. Or if you just need a pick-me-up.

Look how colourful they are!

"One of the key things for us is the idea of making these exercises fun," Jon Thomas, who works for the company that designed the kGoal, told Fast Company.

Well, Jon, we're just about sold on this. When it comes to exercise there's a fine line between pleasure and pain, and we know which one we prefer. Bring on those good vibrations - and seriously buff pelvic floor muscles.
