News broke this week that Peter Stefanovic made negative comments about several people during a phone conversation with his brother, Karl Stefanovic, during a call made in the back of an Uber car.
The conversation was covertly recorded and then ‘shopped’ around media publications, reportedly by the driver.
And now, according to The Daily Telegraph, we have a couple of ideas about everyone who may have been discussed during that fateful car ride.
Along with The Today Show co-host Georgie Gardner, Stefanovic reportedly mentioned Nine News and Current Affairs head Darren Wick, executive producer of the Today Show Mark Calvert and executive producer of 60 Minutes, Kirsty Thomson.
The Telegraph reports that according to a source, the people listed in the conversation been warned to "prepare themselves."
Entertainment journalist Peter Ford originally broke the story on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, and hinted about some of the tape's unfortunate subject matter.
“They have a good session, they have a very frank and full conversation, and they cover lots of territory, and they talk about lots of people,” he said.
While the recording is being 'shopped around,' Nine has confirmed they have not purchased it, with The Telegraph suggesting that tabloid New Idea may have made moves to purchase the file.

Who hasn’t said critical things about their boss/management in a private conversation to a colleague or family member? I think it’s appalling that this has been recorded and leaked, and that media outlets are paying for it.
Sure it wasn’t exactly ‘private’ given Peter was in an uber, but it’s still unethical - and illegal - to secretly record what he said.
I agree with with Elspeth - and I have the recordings to back me up.
I agree, l’m sure a fair proportion of people mock,whine about & put down some of the people they work with,or the organization they work with, but probably only amongst people they confide in, as a way of “venting”, or just for the hell of it. It’s not something they would do in public, however this doesn’t mean that they still don’t go to work every day and interact with those same people in a civil and respectful, collegial manner. I think this specific Uber driver in this case (not Uber drivers in general), is the wrongdoer, and he should get he’s comeuppance whatever that is, and to be specific he should be sacked. So it’s understandable this sort of thing probably casts a dark shadow, on the topic of trust and privacy of Uber drivers, and maybe by association of being in similar industry, of taxi drivers.
This is the result of parasitic companies infiltrating the market with unprofessional drivers going unchecked. The transport ministers in every state need to be questioned as to how unregulated non tax paying "ride share" companies can be allowed to run rampant. Consumers need protection. Not only that, drivers too are exploited- working for less than the minimum wage. The industry needs regulation -but that would put prices up and consumers don't want that! Bottom line is you get what you pay for. The taxi industry was just fine as it was for the most part. Sure, some drivers were bad, but now they are driving for Uber and the like!
Really? Blaming Uber? Are you suggesting that Uber drivers are more likely than normal taxi drivers to secretly record conversations? There’s already privacy laws that apply to everyone where you’re not allowed to tape someone without their permission - whether you’re a regular taxi driver OR an Uber driver.
I’ve had brilliant experiences with both Uber drivers and regular taxi drivers - and despite the regulated environment, I’ve also had some terrible regular taxi drivers too.
While their drivers represent how people are in general (mostly good, some terrible) Uber "the company" is monstrous. I'd almost go so far as to describe the executives as evil. They actively prey on their drivers in the US, we just haven't had it get quite as bad in Aus yet.
