On April 18 2019, Borce Ristevski was sentenced to nine years in prison for the death of Karen Ristevski.
Nearly 18 months after she first disappeared, and nearly a year after her remains were uncovered, Karen Ristevski’s husband, Borce, has been charged with her murder.
Ms Ristevski, of Avondale Heights, went missing from her home on the morning of 29 June, 2016. Her remains were found in February in the Mt Macedon area.
According to Victoria Police, the 53-year-old Avondale Heights man was arrested on Wednesday morning about 7.20am, charged with one count of murder.
He appeared briefly before Melbourne Magistrate’s Court this morning, where his lawyer, Rob Stary, told the magistrate he would be pleading not guilty to the charge.
He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody to appear April 18.
In March, hundreds of mourners dressed in black filled St John’s Uniting Church in Essendon for a private funeral service before Ms Ristevski’s body was taken to her final resting place.
Her husband Borce Ristevski was one of the pallbearers carrying her coffin, while their daughter Sarah carried a framed photo of her mother to lead the procession.

Good. Congratulations to the investigators and police for what was undoubtedly a methodical and thorough investigation.
A year after the remains of the body were uncovered a shovel is seized and tested now? Is this the intelligence we rely on for our safety?
