Johnny Depp's daughter breaks her silence amid abuse claims.

As allegations fly in the wake of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s split, the actor’s 17-year-old daughter has spoken out in defence of her dad.

Actress-come-model, Lily-Rose Depp, shared an old photograph of her and her father with her 1.7 million Instagram followers. Beneath it, a passionate caption that paints a picture of the 52-year-old vastly different from the terrifying, temperamental abuser alleged by Heard.

“My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know,” wrote Lily-Rose. “He’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”

Lily-Rose is the first family member to have spoken out since Depp’s estranged wife, Amber Heard, was granted a temporary restraining order against the actor following allegations of domestic abuse.

In a written declaration, Heard claimed that Depp had subjected her to “excessive emotional, verbal and physical abuse” throughout their 15-month marriage, including striking her across the face with a mobile phone.

While Depp has denied the claims, a court on Friday ruled that he must remain a minimum of 100 yards (91 metres) from Heard at all times.

Lily-Rose’s mother, French singer Vanessa Paradis, has also publicly expressed her support for Depp, issuing a public letter in which she described the allegations against her former partner as “outrageous”.

Depp has remained relatively quiet in the wake of the divorce filing. However, his representatives published a statement saying that he hopes the matter will be resolved quickly.

“Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life.”

Him leaving her mother was out of character. He is an addict and it's not a secret in interviews when he is not using he is a nice person in interviews when he is he doesn't come across as stable. I don't want to judge but falling off the sober train can change someone. As an addict he has had lots of triggers that might have sent him back to drugs and with him being older his reactions will be very different. I don't want to judge him he doesn't deserve trial by media but neither does she. She made her claim to the court they should decide but all the character witnesses for him is what is prompting the speculation and gossip which his lawyer said he didn't want. I personally wish it was left to the court without tons of speculation but as that's not happening I think we have to rember he has a well known drug abuse history and addicts don't become non addicts the just become sober addicts which he may be but lately he doesn't seem it. Some medications and illnesses cause changes so going by his past isn't enough how has he been lately and why?
I feel for them both and hope that if something has changed his behaviour it gets fixed.

It's hardly a revelation that some alleged abusers have different behaviour towards different people. I used to work with a lovely sweet quietly spoken gentleman whom I introduced to a friend of mine, they got into a relationship, and when living together, he was very abusive, including holding her up against a wall by her throat with her feet unable to touch the ground. I never would have picked him for it but it happened. The reaction to what Amber Heard experienced just goes to show that this world has a long way to go with regard to violence against women. Endless queues of people will say "why don't the woman leave/ do something?" when told stories of abuse, yet when a woman (like Amber Heard) actually does something about getting out of an abusive situation, this is the vitriol they receive.
