John Legend and Chrissy Teigen welcome their baby daughter.

Model Chrissy Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend have announced the birth of their baby, a daughter.

The baby girl was born on Thursday, weighing in at 6 lbs. and 11 ounces (3.03kg).

They have named their little ‘legend’  Luna Simone Stephens.

 Legend tweeted overnight:

The model, 30, and the musician, 37, first announced her pregnancy in October after opening up about their fertility issues.

“As many of you know, we’ve been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn’t been easy, but we kept trying because we can’t wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family,” she wrote at the time.

Chrissy and John, whose real name is John Stephens, recently celebrated the impending birth of Luna with two baby showers, one in New York and one thrown by Kim Kardashian in Los Angeles.
The stars have spoken openly about their desire to have a large family and their struggles to conceive - Chrissy underwent IVF which she spoke about openly.

"I will say, honestly, John and I are having trouble," she said on her U.S. chat show FABLife. "We would have kids five, six years ago if it'd happened. But my gosh, it's been a process!"
Chrissy caused controversy when she revealed that she chose to give her husband a little girl first because she said the 37-year-old "deserves" the close bond daughters typically share with their dads. She later said she didn't expect such a backlash when talking about the gender decision publicly.
"I think I didn't realise this is so not really talked about," she told Good Morning America. "In my world it is, because everyone I know is going through this (IVF), so I said it so casually that I didn't anticipate all the people who'd never heard such a thing before."

The new parents have said they are going to try for another baby as soon as they can. Chrissy Teigan told Self Magazine that she dreams of having a big family.

"I think I'll probably be pregnant all through my 30s," she said. "I've always pictured everyone around the table for the holidays and together once a week. It'll be heartbreaking if it doesn't end up happening, but hopefully it will. We've got some embryos on hold."

Congratulations to the new family.
