FLUFF: Jodie Foster marries Ellen's ex-girlfriend.

In glorious gay-wedding news, Jodie Foster just got surprise-married.

The 51-year-old actress – who has starred in Contact and The Silence of the Lambs – got hitched to her girlfriend Alexandra Hedison. They’d been dating for about a year. They got hitched last weekend but we’ve only just found out  – secret well kept, ladies.

We don’t have a wedding photo album or any details yet but Foster’s publicist has confirmed that yes, the wedding did actually take place. This is legit celebrity marriage news.

Alexandra Hedison, who starred on the show The L Word, previously dated the world’s most famous lesbian for three years. Yep, she and Ellen DeGeneres split a decade ago, back in 2004.

Jodie Foster has two sons – Charlie and Christopher – with her ex-partner Cydney Bernard, whom she has called her “my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love, but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consigliere, most beloved BFF of 20 years.”

While Hollywood spent many years – decades, in fact – winking and nudging and knowing that Jodie Foster was a lesbian, it wasn’t until she was accepting the Cecil B Demille Award at last year’s Golden Globes that Foster truly “came out” in a wonderful speech.

Although she said she “came out out a thousand years ago in the stone age”, this was the first time she’s spoken about it openly, publicly and in a room filled with the most powerful famous people on the planet. It was a big moment.

She stood at the podium on stage with her Golden Globe in hand, tongue in cheek, and said: “I guess I just have the sudden urge to say something that I’ve never really been able to air in public. A declaration that I’m a little nervous about, but maybe not quite as nervous as my publicist right now. Hi Jennifer! But, you know, I’m just gonna put it out there, right? Loud and proud. I’m gonna need your support on this. I am… single.”

Well, that last line isn’t true anymore.
