"You're not going to rob us?" Lisa Wilkinson asks Jesinta Campbell about her wedding date.

After announcing their engagement in December 2014, eager Aussie fans have been anxiously awaiting the day when model Jesinta Campbell and AFL star Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin will become husband and wife.

But after a tumultuous year in 2015 – with Buddy withdrawing from the final series due to mental illness – the pair revealed they were putting their plans to walk down the aisle on hold.

Now, the 25-year-old model is opening up about why they decided to make 2016 about things other than marriage.

“For guys, this year was really about focusing on health and happiness and just getting through the year,” she told Channel 9’s Today Show this morning.

“We had so much going on…I had my book and [Buddy] was really focused on football, so for us, that’s been the main focus.”

Adding that the pair were due to depart for a month-long holiday soon, co-host Lisa Wilkinson asked if Jesinta was planning on eloping and marrying in secret.

(After all, she did tell the Courier Mail earlier this year that she would “probably just elope” to “keep everything really simple”.)

“You’re not going to rob us of this wedding?” Lisa laughed. “The wedding is still on hold at this point?”

“Yes,” a coy Jesinta responded, before pointing out that there was another high-profile wedding on the cards for people to focus on.

The former Miss Universe Australia then cheekily shifted the attention to Today’s news presenter Sylvia Jeffreys, who announced her engagement to fellow Channel 9 reporter (and brother to The Today Show’s Karl), Pete Stefanovic, in July this year.

“We’ve got Sylvia and Pete’s wedding coming up! That’s the wedding of the year!” she laughed.

How’s this for a framer?! A couple of weeks ago Pete popped the question, and I said yes, OF COURSE!!! We’ve had the most wonderful time celebrating with great mates. We couldn’t be happier (check the grins ????????) and so excited to share the news with everyone. ????❤️???? @peter_stefanovic
