It was the surprise celebrity wedding of the year: Jesinta Campbell and Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin tied the knot in a super top-secret ceremony over the weekend.

We know how they kept the wedding under wraps, but now, a guest has revealed just how emotional the celebration was.

“They wrote their own vows and it was pretty emotional, there wasn’t a dry eye,” a guest told The Daily Telegraph.

“Everything was so sentimental,” they said.

Keeping everything secret was bound to be stressful – only the couple’s closest friends were invited along, with Jesinta using aliases to book everything for the event – but the guest revealed the bride and groom were “both really relaxed and chilled”.

“The smiles never came off their faces. They danced all night and in to the late hours, it was exactly what they wanted…Small, intimate and full of love.”

Jesinta, 25, and Buddy, 29, had been battling wedding speculation ever since they announced their engagement in December 2014. After Buddy withdrew from the AFL final series in 2015 due to mental illness, the pair revealed they were putting their plans to walk down the aisle on hold.

Just two weeks before their surprise nuptials, Jesinta told The Today Show she had no plans to walk down the aisle in 2016.

“This year was really about focusing on health and happiness and just getting through the year,” she said.

“We had so much going on…I had my book and [Buddy] was really focused on football, so for us, that’s been the main focus.”

Ah, Jestina, you definitely pulled the wool over our eyes with that one!
