Jay-Z speaks for the first time about cheating on his wife, Beyonce.

It’s been over 18 months since Beyonce ‘outed’ her husband Jay-Z for cheating on her in her Grammy-award winning visual album, Lemonade.

Fans first heard whispers back in 2014. That was the year when a video of Beyonce’s sister Solange hitting her brother-in-law in an elevator went viral.

Confirmation that the couple, who are widely regarded as the ‘king and queen of’ of the music industry, were in fact not a perfect couple still came as a shock.

Now, Jay-Z has somewhat admitted to his infidelities, offering an ‘explanation’ of sorts for his actions.

Speaking to T Magazine, the award-winning rapper and music mogul spoke of his mindset at the time of the affair, revealing he’s since sought professional help from a therapist.

“The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself,” the 47-year-old said.

“I grew so much from the experience [of seeing a therapist]. But I think the most important thing I got is that everything is connected. Every emotion is connected and it comes from somewhere. And just being aware of it. Being aware of it in everyday life puts you at such … an advantage.”

Jay-Z also touched on the couple’s use of music to deal with their marriage problems – Beyonce with Lemonade and Jay-Z, 4:44.

“We used our art like a therapy session. The best place is right in the middle of the pain,” he said.

“And that’s where we were sitting. And it was uncomfortable. And we had a lot of conversations.”

The pair who have been dating for almost 15 years have reportedly moved on from Jay-Z’s infidelity, having only recently welcomed twins, Rumi and Sir in June.

They are also parents to five-year-old Blue Ivy.
