Singer Janet Jackson, 50, surprised fans around the world when she announced that she and husband Wissam al Mana were expecting their first baby back in April.
The news had mixed reactions and sparked public debate of “how old is too old” when it comes to having a child.
Jackson has now been placed “on bed rest” for the remainder of her pregnancy amid fears that she may be suffering from health complications, according to E Online.
Janet has kept fans up to date with her pregnancy via her social media accounts. Video via Twitter.
The initial baby news came after Janet posted a video to Twitter explaining her reasons for why she had to cancel her world comeback tour.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” Janet said during the short recording.
“I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour.”
Janet has been laying low since the announcement, with very few public sightings of the pregnant star, but the source has told E Online she has been instructed by her doctors to take it easy and remain in bed for both her own health, and the health of her unborn baby.
“She is doing OK and resting until she is due for her baby,” says the source.
“Janet is aware of complications, but as of now doctors say she is OK.”
People close to the couple claim they had been working with fertility specialists for some time in order to conceive their dream baby.
While some fans speculated that Jackson may be using a surrogate, her brother Tito denied these claims, telling Andy Cohen Live that she was "very well, very pregnant".
Her brother also said the singer did not yet know the sex of the baby and at this stage only wished for a healthy child.
Our thoughts are with Janet for the remainder of her pregnancy.
