Parents plead for the safe return of their missing teen.
A Melbourne teen has been missing since Saturday night, when she ran away from her home with a girl she met on the internet.
Jade Robson-Whitehouse, 14, and her new friend – who gave Jade’s parents a fake name – disappeared around 8pm on Saturday night from her Junction Village home in Melbourne’s southeast.
Jade’s distraught parents have publicly pleaded for her to return.
Stepmother Tracey Harris said she was concerned when Jade asked if her friend could stay the night and asked to speak to the girl’s mother.
But it turned out the girl had given her a fake name and the duo disappeared before Ms Harris could take the girl home.
“The girl she left with, we don’t know who she is, we’ve never met her before. Nobody at school knows the girl,” Ms Harris told Berwick Leader.
“We don’t even have her real name, the name she gave us was incorrect.”
