Lisa Wilkinson has given an interview to News Limited, in which she artfully dodged questions about whether her future on the TODAY show is in jeopardy.
TODAY once dominated ratings but has been struggling recently, especially since the appointment of Sam Armytage on rival show Sunrise.
When asked about the show’s slowly dwindling viewership, 53-year-old Wilkinson told News Limited’s Confidential, “I’ve spent my entire media career, spanning three decades, thinking any moment somebody is going to tap me on the shoulder. If you approach every day with that attitude, it makes you grateful for what you have and not worry what may or may not happen.”
The morning breakfast television slot is notoriously competitive.
Her co-host Karl Stefanovic has also alluded to potentially being asked to leave the show soon. In March this year Stefanovic, 39, told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa, “I know that ‘upstairs’ is actively planning to get rid of me, and I like it. I embrace it. I don’t care — it’s best to go, ‘It’s TV, eventually they will, so I’m just gonna have a great time and sail on into the sunset.”
Following that interview Nine’s Chief Executive David Gyngell was forced to put an end to all the rumours.
He told Media Diary, “There are zero changes at Today. There won’t be for years.”
Only time will tell if Karl and Lisa’s time as hosts of TODAY will soon be coming to an end. From our end – we hope not.

If only management would see reason and get rid of Karl. His humour is infantile, he cannot conduct a decent interview, and don't start me on his hair!
He is doing the same thing to Today that Kochie did to Sunrise. Watch the ratings plummet further.
I wake up with today always.
