I've always thought of myself as a classic Libran.
I love beautiful things, I'm incredibly indecisive when it comes to the big stuff, and there's nothing that upsets me more than a sense of injustice.
As a casual horoscope reader, I thought I knew a fair bit about astrology and how it affects my day-to-day life.
But then I booked an Astrology Unlocked session with astrologist and life strategist Kristy Gray and discovered there's a hell of a lot more to me than my inability to decide between a Quarter Pounder or a McChicken (like I said, the BIG stuff) and the fact that I can't stop buying clothes and pretty things for my apartment.
Watch: The horoscopes on a Zoom call. Post continues below.
I decided to delve into the stars with Kristy because I have some big, scary, audacious goals for 2022 and I feel like I'm going to hold myself back from achieving them. Basically, I need to get s**t done and if the placement of the moon in regards to my twelfth house can help me get s**t done, then I'm all for it.
I wanted to know whether the stars were going to be on my side and if there were certain parts of the year when I would be able to get more s**t done. And alternatively, whether there were parts of the year where I should just curl up on the couch with an unlimited supply of snacks and make my way through the entire Grey's Anatomy back catalogue.
And spoiler alert, guys, there are.
Kristy started our session by reading my natal chart, which is also referred to as your birth chart. To do this, I had to send her my date of birth, exact time of birth, and where I was born.
Your natal chart basically tells you what the sun and moon and all the planets were up to when you were born.
It looks like this:
Yeah it looks like all the subjects I avoided in high school rolled into one terrifyingly complex graphic.
According to my natal chart, my sun sign (the sign of your normal horoscope) is Libra. Like I said indecisive, likes beautiful things, balance, fighting for the underdog etc, etc.
Kristy explained that as a Libran in a high vibrational state, I'm magnetic, I have an amazing ability to connect to people and I'm all round a fun time.
But in a low vibrational state, I'm indecisive and I don't back myself.
So true!
There are 12 houses in the astrological chart and each of the houses represent different facets of life.
My sun sign (Libra) sits in the Tenth House. The Tenth House is all about transformation. This explains why I feel like I'm always transforming, always seeking new things, always wanting to learn more.
Your ascending/rising sign is all about your life purpose and what you get joy from. Kristy told me my rising sign is Aquarius, which means I'm all about blue sky thinking, doing things differently, and rebelling. I hate to be micro-managed or boxed in, and I need a lot of freedom in my career and relationships.
None of this came as a surprise to me. This is me to a tee, and it was just really validating to know there was some cosmic stuff going on behind the scenes making me... me.
At this point, Kristy started to look at my Progressed Chart in regards to my career because, you know, getting s**t done, big audacious goals etc, etc.
For the last two and a half years my Progressed Moon has been in Scorpio, which is also all about transformation. For the next two and a half years, my Progressed Moon will be in the Tenth House, which is all about public image and career.
So, basically, imma get s**t done.
Also, in January, Jupiter is going to move into my First House, which is all about the self. She said I will start to feel really good about myself around then, and will start to get some amazing opportunities.
This will last until March 2023, when Saturn comes around and decides to rain on my parade a bit. I will be tested at this time but this will help me work on the next iteration of myself.
Kristy then drilled down further and explained that I'm smack bang in the middle of a massive career activation phase, which is coming in three stages.
The first stage started in January 2021 to August 2021. Looking back, I could immediately see this was a period of high energy and confused feelings for me. During this time, I realised I needed to make some big changes if I wanted to achieve what I really want to in my career. Which will eventually mean letting go of the safety net of a traditional 9 to 5 job and becoming a multi-hyphenate.
During this period, I started taking more risks, and it opened up a whole new audience and a realm of new possibilities to me.
Then I got really tired and a bit sick and had a few 'meh' months.
The next activation started on November 27 and will go until February 1, 2022 (i.e. this is a prime time for getting s**t done).
I'll have a challenging few months full of frustrations and setbacks from April until August 2022 and then - you guessed it - another activation period from August until December.
I walked out of my session with Kristy armed with three things:
1. The confirmation that I wasn't going crazy. This has been a transformational year for me and the start of something great (hopefully).
2. A bit of a roadmap of where I can put my energy next year to make the most of the good parts and get s**t done.
3. And the comfort of knowing that sometimes we just have 'meh' periods, and that's ok, they're setting us up for better times ahead.
